✨ That’s a wrap on the successful 4th edition of MINT Chinese Film Festival! 🎞️From March 6 to 8, 2026, we were thrilled to once again bring together audiences and guests from across the globe in the Lake District. This year’s expanded programme featured a more diverse film selection, alongside a DJ set, an upgraded hiking activity, and artist-led workshops.

Throughout the festival, what truly stood out was the vibrant exchange between audiences, filmmakers, and guests. From post-screening conversations to informal gatherings, Kendal Brewery Arts became a space for connection, reflection, and dialogue. We were especially moved to see people from different cultural backgrounds come together, sharing stories, perspectives, and experiences. These moments of exchange are at the heart of what makes the festival so meaningful.

We were honoured to welcome directors Lúcia Nagib , Yueqi Wu , and Dou Dou joining us onsite and Connor Sen Warnick .sen.warnick for a wonderful online Q&A. We were also delighted to host Carlota Ezquiaga and Laura Zeng as members from the 2026 Emerging Critics Scheme.

A heartfelt thank you to all our supporters and partners. With special thanks to , as well as, , CINOPORT, and Kendal Town Council.

A huge thank you to our festival team , and all the supporters, filmmakers, guests, audiences, volunteers, and contributors who made this edition possible.

✨ Looking ahead, MINT will be heading to Edinburgh next year, and we can’t wait to begin this new chapter with you. Stay tuned for more events coming later this year, and join us as we continue our journey into new adventures in 2027! 🎬✨

🦄 Here we go! The 4th edition of the MINT Chinese Film Festival is officially underway! 💜

🥂 We kicked off the festival test yesterday at Kendal Brewery Arts with a spectacular Opening Gala, featuring Purple Butterfly (2003) by Lou Ye and the 2K restoration of A Chinese Ghost Story. The gala also included a delightful drinks reception and an inspiring introduction by Dr Julian Ward, bringing together audiences and film lovers to celebrate cultural exchange through cinema.

🎬 In the afternoon, audiences also enjoyed screenings of NaedeaN, Human Resources, and our 2026 MINT Animation Strand, showcasing a diverse range of voices and styles in contemporary Asian creativity.

💃 The excitement continues throughout the festival with a vibrant programme of short films and feature screenings.

This year, we’re launching something special for International Women’s Day!

𝑺𝒆𝒄𝒓𝒆𝒕 𝑺𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒓 is a small gift exchange among women at 2026 MINT CFF. From the beginning of the festival, female audience members are invited to bring a small gift and leave it with our Festival Team at the Reception Table.

On March 8, everyone who contributed a gift will join a lucky draw and randomly receive a gift from another participant.

✨ And yes, our Festival Team, selected jury members (including 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗿 𝗗𝗮𝗶 𝗝𝗶𝗻𝗵𝘂𝗮), and invited female filmmakers will also take part! Which means you might exchange a gift with a guest, juries, or filmmaker.

How to join:
🎁Bring a small, thoughtful gift
📒Leave and register it at the Reception Table
🎟️Draw your gift on March 8

A quiet gesture. A shared celebration. A small connection between women in cinema. 💡No need for anything expensive, sincerity matters most.
