from 7:30pm September - July. Hunique Dance is a hungarian Folk Dance Ensemble that was founded in London in 2008. Its members are enthusiastic hungarians living in London and its surrounding counties. On Tuesdays the beginners and on Thursdays the more advanced members get together to rehearse a variety of dances fro
m different regions of Hungary . The leaders of the groups all have years of experience in teaching Hungarian folk dancing. Also, Hunique Dance organizes Social Folk Dance events with live music regularly, where everyone is welcome. In 2017 the dance group has decided to make folk dance events for children also. In September 2013, the group has united with the Hungarian Culture and Heritage Society. It is their joint aim to represent the Hungarian culture and its traditions in the United Kingdom via high-quality and uplifiting performaces. Providing high-quality entertainment, in order to draw up a realistic picture of Hungary’s colourful culture, is a very important goal of the organization. They organize dance workshops and events such as the Hungarian Cultural Day where people from any cultural background can meet and learn aboutthe customs, foods and music of Hungary. Dance workshops are organized every 6-8weeks that allow any dance lover relish different dance routines from Hungary. Folk dancing has always been a significant part of Hungarian culture. Hunique’s goal is to preserve this fundamental tradition and pass it on. Therefore it is their future aim and plan to start up a children’s dance group in order to provide opportunities for young talents to enjoy the beauties of this wonderful tradition. The dances and costumes of the group represent the variety and richness of folkore and customs of the entire Carpathian Basin which have emerged over centuries. The dances they perfom are based on authentic film records. On performances they wear the traditional folk dress, the dancers are always dancing in the area matching attire. Hunique has been representing the Hungarian culture and its customs on many occassions at different UK festivals and events, and they often perform at various Hungarian schools too.
2016 was the first year when Hunique has organized a very succesful and fun-filled dance camp which has been a 4 day event, where Hungarian dances were taught by professional dance instructors from Hungary. The event
Hunique has developed a great friendship with the Folktone Band and the Medve Band. These two bands are regulary provide high-quality, live Hungarian folk music on the dance workshops and the performaces. Hunique Dance group takes steps to cooperate with other nation's dance groups in UK. Hunique is not only an ensemble but also a group of dance lovers who like socializing in their free time, and often go camping, on excursions, even go out for meals and drinks. HUNGARIAN/MAGYAR:
A Hunique Dance Magyar Néptáncegyüttes 2008-ban alakult Londonban. Tagjai, Londonban és környékén élő, többnyire magyar anyanyelvű fiatalok és idősek egyaránt. Tóth Gabriella, - egykori hivatásos néptáncos -, mint meghívott tanár kezdett el dolgozni a csapattal és 2 évig volt az együttes vezetője. Az együttes tőle kapta a Hunique Dance nevet. Büszke arra, hogy a csapat együttessé fejlődött és hasonló módon működik, mint bármely más magyarországi néptáncegyüttes. A Hunique Dance Néptáncegyüttest a magyarság megőrzésének és a magyar kultúra ápolásának igénye hívta életre 2008-ban Londonban. Ez nem csupán egy együttes, hanem egy nagy baráti közösség, melynek tagjai hetente többször is összegyűlnek és együtt táncolnak, gyakorolnak, a kultúrát ápolva szórakoznak. A táncpróbák és fellépések mellett, folyamatosak az együttes által szervezett táncházak és egyéb kulturális rendezvények, mint például a Hungarian Folklore Day is. Számos fesztivál résztvevőjeként képviselték már a magyar kultúrát. 2017-ben az Egyesült Királyság szerte ismert Car-Fest rendezvényre kaptak meghívást. Az évek elteltével egyre több felkérésnek tesznek eleget, rengeteg meghívást kapnak brit és magyar rendezvényekre egyaránt. Az együttes hétköznapi élete a táncpróbákkal, új táncok megtanulásával és a előadási repertoár karbantartásával telik, hétvégenként kerülnek megrendezésre a felnőtt és a gyermek élő muzsikás táncházak. Az együttes számos táncműsorral rendelkezik. Jövőbeli terveik között szerepel egy gyermek csoport létrehozása, amely párhuzamosan működne a jelenlegi kezdő és haladó felnőtt csoporttal az együttesen belül, lehetőséget és segítséget nyújtva ezzel a magyar kultúra továbbadására, az itt élő családok gyermekei számára. A Hunique táncosok célja, hogy részesei legyenek egy mozgalomnak, melynek tagjaként hozzájárulhatnak a magyar kultúra fenntartásához, ápolásához, illetve továbbadásához. Hunique Dance, 2013 óta tagja a Magyar Kultúra és Örökség Alapítványnak. Közös céljuk, hogy a jövőben még több és színesebb rendezvényekkel népszerűsítsék a magyar kultúrát az Egyesült Királyságban. A táncegyüttes szoros köteléket tart a Folktone Band zenekarral és más, Angliában működő magyar népzenekarokkal is. Az együttes évről-évre bővül, új tagok csatlakozását folyamatosan várják.
