It’s one of three signature gags the franchise keeps returning to, alongside the lie detector and the circle of trust. Jack Byrnes has always trusted animals over people. In the 2000 original, it was Jinx the cat sabotaging Greg. 26 years later, a German Shepherd gets the final word on whether Ariana Grande’s character is good enough for Henry Focker.

Grande plays Olivia Jones, an ex-FBI hostage negotiator who describes her own training as “strategic emotional puppetry.” Greg is now the overprotective dad trying to protect his son from the same scrutiny he once endured.

Not unexpectedly a film starring and directed by Channing Tatum about a dog called Dog won Best in World. The doggie star of the film was played by a Belgian Malinois. Meet Frank the adorable doppelgänger of Tatum’s leading dog.

This talented lady has had further 4 legged success with Paddington the musical for which she has just scooped an Olivier for the book.
