Half-term week looked a little different for me this year - I stepped away from Libra VA Services and spent the week fully with my young children.

We had some really lovely moments together: days out, park trips, fresh air, and lots of laughter.

But if I’m being honest… it was also exhausting.

Trying to keep everyone entertained, breaking up arguments over toys, and feeling pulled in three directions at once - with very little time left for myself.

And somewhere in the middle of it all, I realised how much it mirrors running a business.

Some days I feel like I’ve got it all figured out - the plans are clear, the systems work, and everything flows.

Other days, I’m flying by the seat of my pants, feeling out of my depth, just treading water and hoping I’m doing enough.

Both experiences come with joy, chaos, learning, and growth. And both remind me that perfection isn’t the goal - showing up, adapting, and doing your best is.

Coming back to work this week, I’m feeling grateful for the time off, slightly tired, but re-energised and ready to dive back in.

To all the parents juggling business and family life - I see you. And to fellow business owners feeling like you’re figuring it out as you go… you’re not alone. 💫

I’m so excited to share that we are expanding!

Over the coming months, we’ll be introducing a brand-new offering focused on AI & Automation Workflows - designed to help businesses save even more time by streamlining repetitive tasks, improving efficiency, and making smart use of emerging technology.

I’m thrilled to be partnering with my husband, Tim Ngwena, on this new venture. Tim brings over a decade of consulting and product experience across industries including financial services, FMCG, energy, and not-for-profits. Many in the analytics world may know him as “Tableau Tim,” where he’s built a large following through tutorials and training, and has been recognised as a Tableau Visionary for three consecutive years. He also teaches professionals globally through LinkedIn Learning.

Together, we’re combining VA expertise + AI strategy + automation know-how to help businesses work smarter - not harder.

We’re still in the early stages of shaping this service, but we’re incredibly excited about what’s ahead.

This week I’ve been solo parenting while my husband has been abroad for work - just me and our three little ones (ages 5, 4 and 1).

Weeks like this really highlight why I’m so grateful to be self-employed and running Libra VA Services.

I haven’t had to second-guess who’s doing the school or nursery pickups. I haven’t had to ask permission to reshuffle my day. And I haven’t had to pretend that life doesn’t get messy sometimes.

Most importantly, I work with clients who get it. Clients who understand that there are periods where I’m completely run ragged, and work happens in the pockets of time I can find. Clients who trust that if something can wait until the following week in exceptional circumstances, it will - and that the quality won’t drop because of it.

I’m incredibly thankful for clients who don’t berate me when it hits 8pm and the very last thing I can face after a full day with three children is opening my laptop.

I never take being self-employed for granted. The flexibility, the trust, and the mutual respect I have with my clients is something I value more than ever during weeks like this.

To my clients - thank you for your understanding. It truly doesn’t go unnoticed.
