Festival Crisis Spreads Beyond the UK
The festival crisis isn't just a UK problem; it's a global issue. As reported by Sky News and emphasised by our partners at The United Kingdom Crowd Management AssociationUKCMA, the UK festival scene is struggling with soaring costs, resource shortages and significant cancellations. Now, similar challenges are hitting Dutch festivals, alongside other countries. Parallels have been drawn by professionals all over the world.

According to IQ Magazine, at least 60 Dutch festivals have been cancelled in 2024, marking a record number outside the pandemic years. This mirrors the UK's situation, where over 40 festivals have shut down. Both countries face rising costs, supply shortages and stricter policies.

Events like the UB40-headlined Chillville and Mañana Mañana have been cancelled due to material shortages and low ticket sales. New zoning plans and regulations are causing headaches, with Amsterdam's new permit policy sparking fears of bankruptcies.

Despite these challenges, sold-out events like Lowlands and AC/DC concerts show strong demand for live music.
