WW1 Weekend

We've had a week to reflect and decompress. Notwithstanding the weather being all over the shop this year and not strictly as predicted by the Met Office on both days, the feedback has been positive, the exhibitors played well with the public and we've come away with a few ideas for next year. A massive thank you of course to all of our exhibitors for their time and expertise and to the staff at Pembrey Country Park for again allowing us to indulge ourselves in their amazing venue. Here's to 2027.

Last minute finishing touches today. Set up tomorrow. Sunday we share the venue with the Steam model engineers and their show over by the miniature railway, so visitors will get a two for one experience on Sunday.

Members of Axis-Allied (AX-AL) will be portraying Shackleton's 1914 - 1917 ITAE (Endurance) Expedition.

With the race to the South Pole ending in 1912, Shackleton set his sights on crossing the entire Antarctic peninsula travelling via the South Pole. We will be retelling the story of him and his men during this renowned expedition. If in the area please come and say hello and take the chance to find out more.

Our display contains a range of original items from the period as well as items that we have researched and recreated replicating some of the men's skillsets.

Joining us for the first time this year will be members of SB10 portraying a pioneer unit of the Imperial German Army. Historically,SB10 were tough on the British Army at the front. This unit faithfully recreates life at the front, uniforms, arms and equipment of pioneers in the Kaisers Army. We are very happy to welcome them along.

As the host unit, Yeoman will be out in force. Demonstrating life in the field for a territorial cavalry regiment. Our First Aid post will also be on show as part of the First Aid display within the British camp.
