Our local cycling club ( of which we're members) are taking part in this incredible challenge in February.
If you have any pennies left after Christmas, dropping them into our JustGiving well will be much appreciated by the Doddie Weir Foundation and will do their bit in finding a cure for this dreadful disease.
Thanks
Wyn
On the 9th February, our club will be taking part in this very special event.
As well as delivering the Match Ball for the Scotland v Wales Rugby International match, the 300+ cyclists and crew will be raising funds for Motor Neurone Disease Research.
The Doddie Weir Foundation was set up by Doddie after he was diagnosed with this dreadful disease and together with another high profile sufferer, Rob Burrows, the Foundation has raised significant sums and continues to drive the funding to find a cure.
Sadly, Doddie recently lost his personal battle but the objectives remain the same. He was a great man and with his loss, the event will be even more poignant this year.
Our club team of 4 riders and 6 crew, feel privileged to have been invited to be part of the monumental challenge of cycling the 555 miles in just 48 hrs. They are almost certain to hit rain, wind and possibly ice on the journey north - it will be tough!
They will, however, approach whatever discomfort is thrown at them with a determination to get to Edinburgh, on time and to have raised as much money as possible to justify their incredible effort.
Please support our team by donating to the Just Giving link below - your contribution, no matter how big or small will help make a difference.
Thank You
