Based on Parliament Street in Liverpool, Arena houses a wide mix of practioners such as artists, illustrators, fashion designers and more.

Artist Profile: Steve Bayley pictured working on his latest painting 'Allerton Towers Orangery' Steve says he began his art 'adventure' eleven years ago after taking early retirement from his position as a financial director. Steve joined us in April this year after eight years at Hub Studios. His art is an eclectic mix of mediums and styles. Artist Profile - Angela Smith Angela Smith is a fine art painter in the true sense, combining aesthetic, concept and emotional expression in her work. Angela is from Liverpool but spent many years in London, including working in a senior position in international banking. She graduated as a painter during 2004 at the Wimbledon School of Art and is a member of the artist collective 'The Wimbledon Group'. Angela co-ran a gallery in Wimbledon and has curated exhibitions both there and in London. Joining arena in May 2025, most days she can be found in her studio painting with oils. She also enjoys a good curry.

Artist Profile, Josie Jenkins, Josie Jenkins ... Josie has been with Arena Studios for over 15 years and is a talented and accomplished artist. She is pictured here working on an architectural painting which will be part of an exhibition at The Williamson Gallery in 2027 ( joint with Ula Fung ). Josie completed a BA (hons) in Fine Art (Painting) in 2002 and has since exhibited extensively in the UK and internationally, winning the Valeria Sykes Award during 2013 at the New Light exhibition and this led to a residency in Xiamen, China. Josie enjoys producing/curating exhibitions and also runs Liverpool Artists' Network Liverpool Artists' Network with which is a comprehensive resource to help and support artists. Arena member Josie Jenkins is currently showing at Stephen Keane in a group painting exhibition called Object Subject which she curated.

Photos include Arena alumni Anna Ketskemety who is also exhibiting.

Object Subject continues until 6th September and can be visited during Lea Bridge Library’s opening hours.

Josie will also be there for a Meet the Curator weekend on:
Saturday 5 September, 10am–5pm
Sunday 6 September, 11am–3pm

Curated by exhibiting artist Josie Jenkins, Object Subject is a group painting exhibition of works in which objects are either clearly present or ambiguously implied. Moving away from conventional still-life expectations, the exhibition considers how meaning emerges through the placement, treatment and interpretation of objects within painting.
