OYE INTRODUCES & OYE COMMUNITY

We're excited to announce the Liverpool talent being showcased as part of the ‘Oyé Introduces’ and 'Oye Community' programmes at this year’s Africa Oyé festival!

- Oye Introduces -

- Liverpool Hip Hop Festival, presenting a cypher of emerging talent. (Saturday 20th June)
- KOJ presents TRiBE and friends (Sunday 21st June)

- Oye Community -

On Saturday 20th June, Batala Mersey will open the Africa Oye main stage, with samba reggae drumming rooted in Afro-Brazilian traditions.

Then on Sunday 21st June, Positive Impact presents: Tiara Leigh Ferns and Jemimah Akaunu, who'll be warming the crowd up for another full day of celebrations.

Also on Sunday 21st, we welcome Dancing Queens and Katumba as they collaborate for a special parade around the festival site. Get ready for Caribbean carnival meets Brazilian carnival!

** For the very first time, Dancing Queens takes to the Oye Active Zone — bringing the vibrant energy, joy and freedom of Caribbean Carnival to Africa Oyé Festival. Expect powerful movement, feel-good vibes, a live parade with Katumba and an uplifting Caribbean Carnival dance workshop open to all.

It’s not too late to get involved! Free weekly sessions for women takes place every Thursday, 7pm–8pm at the African Caribbean Centre Liverpool.

By bike, by bus, by rail, by foot…

Please take care when travelling to and from the festival.

Once you’re in Liverpool there are many options to get to Africa Oyé in Sefton Park and we’ll always suggest choosing greener options such as walking or cycling if you’re able to, or utilising public transport where possible via Merseyrail and Merseytravel services.

Please note: Car parking in the immediate vicinity of the festival is limited, and predominantly for residents. Due to Sefton Park being very busy across the weekend, including road closures around the festival site, driving directly to Africa Oyé is not advised.

Africa Oyé strives to be as inclusive as possible, welcoming all our deaf, disabled and neurodivergent festival-goers.

Being an outdoor, open air, music festival positioned on greenfield sites, every year we focus on providing a number of facilities on site to accommodate disabled guests’ needs. This includes our amazing interpreters who provide BSL on the main stage.

Due to the nature of our festival, the majority of the acts do not sing in English. We always try our best to make sure where possible the service is available. Any important stage announcements and information, such as lost children and first aid call outs will be provided in BSL on-stage between acts.
