The Waterways Community is a charity which develops activity on waterways throughout NI. Over the past 6 years the Waterways Storymaking Festival has offered a chance for people all over Northern Ireland to reflect and connect in a deeper way to the unique beauty of our waterways. The Festival is all about tapping into your creativity, sharing thoughts, reminiscences or pure flights of fantasy on

the theme of “Waterways”. One of out main events is the Waterways Storymaking Festival which runs annually and is completely free. Based on competitions, participants submit waterways themed creative works in three art-forms - creative writing, photography/video diaries. Now planning its 2024 programme we have seen some 2,000 people of all ages getting involved and resulting in a free to attend Awards Event. https://www.facebook.com/waterwaysstorymakingfestival to see what we got up to in 2022 at a brilliant evening of culture and joy. New for 2024 season starting in March we will be offering heritage and cultural community workshops and events in your area. These are delivered by The Waterways College our teaching and learning specialist team. If you want to volunteer or even suggest a theme for a series of workshops get in touch.
