We’re absolutely delighted to announce that Grace has joined our committee for this year’s festival! 🧡 From taking part in our workshops to performing on the day, Grace has been involved with Slippit from the very beginning, so it felt like the perfect fit to have her join us. Having experienced Slippit first-hand as a performer, Grace brings a unique perspective to the committee. Alongside her powerhouse voice, she brings a huge amount of passion, creativity and experience, and we are excited to have her aboard!

“Skin wrote this song about her experience of being in a controlling and abusive relationship with a man. She said that the song is about “being vulnerable but strong and brave at the same time” Skin has so much power and emotion behind her voice that you can’t help but be in it with her! I chose this song because I think it represents everything Slippit stands both for, and against!”

We know we’ve been a little quiet on social media lately, but don’t worry we’ve been as busy as ever behind the scenes! We’ve got lots of exciting things in the works and we can’t wait to start sharing them with you soon. 🖤

DID YOU KNOW??? At least 4 of the bands performing at Rising North this year, were formed as a direct result of the SLIPPIT workshops and festival event less tha a year ago! Let's see what this year brings!!!

Less than a week to go until Rising North Festival - a four‑day celebration of local talent, visiting headline acts, and Lerwick’s buzzing live‑music culture, across venues including Clickimin Leisure Centre, Mareel, and multiple Lerwick pubs!!

Just a reminder that applications to perform at this year's Slippit festival (Sat 28th Nov!) are open until the end of the month.

We're looking for a wide variety of solo acts, bands, and DJs. Whether you're a seasoned pro, or looking to perform on stage for the very first time - we want to hear from you! To those who have already been in touch, we'll get back to you after the deadline.

If you think you'd like to perform but don't actually have a band or a full plan in place then you are very welcome to submit an application and let us know that. Once applications have closed we'll be sharing some opportunities to develop your skills and confidence, find your tribe, and get on that stage. More info coming soon!

We welcome people of all genders who support our mission. 💪

We were buzzing to be invited to the SIC's Shetland Youth Voice event last week on Arts and Culture to speak about Slippit and how important it is to see inclusion in our local music scene. Ashlea ran a "build your own festival" workshop with the young people, and it was brilliant to hear more about what they would like to see happen in Shetland.

Putting a festival together (fictional or not!) is no easy feat! For us at Slippit, we're all about championing artists who might not normally see themselves on stage. Last year we had acts who had never performed live before, and for our 2026 festival, we want to continue to provide a platform for those who need it most. On that note - WE ARE OPENING APPLICATIONS FOR SLIPPIT 2026 TOMORROW!!! If you want to see yourself on a real gig poster in the near future, keep your eyes peeled for more details.
