Dont miss our screening of Uncommon Voices: Exploring Class in New British Cinema, 4pm 7th November, Link in bio.

Curated by Nia Childs, in collaboration with BFI and Independent Cinema Office.

This selection of recent short films starts a conversation about how working class filmmakers are capturing working class experience in the Britain of today, spanning documentaries, flights of fancy and realism.

What these films uncover are working class experiences that are rich in creativity, complications, uncertainties and contradictions: the very things that make a film worth watching. This programme of shorts, selected by filmmaker and curator Nia Childs, is for anyone who wants to explore working class Britain as it is and imagines itself to be, in the hope of discovering something new.

Luke Scott is a multi-award-winning director, and the CEO of the Ridley Scott Creative Group.

Luke’s work crafting viral entertainment and advertising campaigns is best illustrated in his films for sci-fi blockbusters Prometheus, The Martian, Alien:Covenant, and Blade Runner 2049. His 2012 BTAA and Cannes Lion-winning ‘TED Weyland Conference’ promo for Prometheus is one of the most viewed TED lectures of all time.

Luke’s feature film debut Morgan was released in 2016 and starred Anna Taylor-Joy and Kate Mara. In 2019, Luke directed several episodes of the HBO sci-fi series Raised by Wolves. The series, from executive producer Ridley Scott, was released late 2020.
