What the cost of posting and the waste of paper Moira and I decided that this year we would not be sending all our usual batch of Christmas cards. Please don't feel left out or offended, we're donating to the foodbank instead.

At Christmas there’s a lot of pressure to be perfect and have it all. We see adverts showing happy families in matching PJ’s, having fun, opening lots of gifts, eating beautifully cooked food.

Nobody is having a drunken row, struggling with life, debt or feeling lonely in these adverts. It could be your first year without a beloved family member or friend, or too many years.

This can be the hardest time of year for many people.

The Samaritans have a free number - 116 123 (UK). They are there 24x7 and want to help anyone in need.
