So wonderful to meet these fabulous young dancers on our DMU Dance inspire day
Our Thomas Estley Year 10 GCSE Dance students had an incredible opportunity to visit De Montfort University for an Inspire Day. Throughout the day, students took part in two workshops led by university lecturers. The first was a Musical Theatre technique class, where students explored performance skills, expression and stage presence. The second workshop focused on contemporary dance and choreography, introducing students to the Alexander Technique and different ways of creating and manipulating movement phrases. To end the day, students watched a third-year performance titled ‘Can We Save the World?’. This was followed by a Q&A session with the performers, giving our students valuable insight into studying dance at university and the creative process behind the production.
The students were outstanding throughout the day. They were polite, engaged and willing to step outside of their comfort zones with enthusiasm. They supported one another brilliantly and worked together as a team throughout the workshops.
A true display of the Thomas Estley Values. We are incredibly proud of them
