After rushing to get the concert organised for last September (because I was turning 40) I took the (hard) last minute decision to postpone the concert as we were missing some key orchestral positions and needed to make sure the concert gave musical justice to the original festival from 1827 + being on the other side of the world made pinning certain musicians down hard!
That said I’m happy to announce the event is now rescheduled to the weekend of 5/6th September 2027 as a full on 200yo anniversary event.
I would like to make a (delayed) thanks to everyone who offered their support from Leicester City Council, the Leicestershire School of Music, ex LSSO players/staff, Leicester Cathedral as well as the young soloists lined up from Leicester / Ho Chi Minh Conservatory / Thailand.
(There is always the opportunity to bring forward the concert to tie in with one of Leicester’s established Music Festivals otherwise there are 10 years to plan!)
With the extra time the plans is to hold 3 concerts
1. Full Cathedral Service of Sacred Music - at St Margaret’s Church
2. Grand Miscellaneous Concert - at Leicester Cathedral
3. A concert of classical music featuring in “Pop music” – at venue TBC
In terms of the content of each concert think:

Already in discussions with some international artists for #3 and #1 & #2 should be relatively straight forward based with enough notice to book people.
Please register your details on the website http://www.leicestergrandmusicfestival.com (or message me on FB) so I have a full list of interested parties.
In the meantime – next year is the LSSO’s 70th anniversary concert on 24th March 2018 so please see the website below
