SUMMER IN LEE 2026 – FUNDRAISING ANNOUNCEMENT
We are pleased to announce that the 10th anniversary of Summer in Lee raised a fantastic £3,099.00 for Children with Cancer UK
This year also saw the largest Saturday crowd we have ever welcomed to Summer in Lee.
Across the weekend, Montserrat Events CIC, with the amazing support of Rocks N’ Groynes and their Rockettes, achieve this awesome fundraising total for Children with Cancer UK.
A huge thank you goes out to the volunteers and, of course, everyone who donated. It was a tremendous effort from everyone involved.
THE PEOPLE’S AIR DISPLAY
We also want to say a big thank you to everyone who supported the crowdfunding campaign to help bring the People’s Air Display to the Lee-on-the-Solent seafront. The crowdfunding raised £590.00 towards the display.
This was supported by the generosity of local businesses and event sponsors, (Eaton, N A Griffiths Butcher, Seafire Taproom, Canford Manor/Tudor Lodge and MonsterCam)whose financial support helped us meet the costs associated with bringing the aircraft display to the seafront for everyone to enjoy.
That combination of community donations and business sponsorship makes attractions such as the People’s Air Display possible.
LOW KEY? THE CROWDS TELL A DIFFERENT STORY
Some have described this year’s Summer in Lee as “low key”. We disagree – and the visitor numbers tell their own story. Saturday attracted the largest crowd we have ever recorded at Summer in Lee.
Friday and Saturday evenings also saw a bigger Beats on the Beach experience, with hundreds of people enjoying the music and dancing on the seafront. Thank you to everyone who came down, danced and helped create the atmosphere across both evenings.
And then there were The Locksmiths. They delivered what we believe was one of the best evening performances Summer in Lee has seen, pulling a Saturday evening crowd along the seafront on a scale we haven’t experienced before.
Across three days, the music, entertainment, air display, traders, food and drink and, most importantly, the people who attended created a fitting celebration of 10 years of Summer in Lee.
FREE TO ATTEND DOESN’T MEAN FREE TO DELIVER
Summer in Lee remains predominantly a free community event.
Thousands of people can come to the seafront and enjoy live music, entertainment, children’s activities and the People’s Air Display without having to buy a ticket.
But a free event still costs a significant amount to put on.
Land hire, infrastructure, licences, insurance, security, entertainment, power, toilets and the many other services needed to stage a public event all have to be paid for.
That is why the support of our sponsors, local businesses, traders, volunteers and the community matters.
After celebrating our 10th anniversary in 2026, and with everything involved in making Summer in Lee happen, we very much hope that the event can continue in some capacity going forward.
THANK YOU
To our sponsors, local businesses, our volunteers, the Rocks N’ Groynes, Rockettes, our performers, traders, suppliers and everyone working behind the scenes and finally to the thousands of you who came to Lee-on-the-Solent seafront and supported the event over the years.
Together, you helped us celebrate 10 years of Summer in Lee, raise £3,099.00 this year for Children with Cancer UK, and add to the many thousands of pounds raised for the charity over the past decade.
That is something everyone who has supported Summer in Lee over those ten years can be proud of.
