We were delighted to host the first Clydesdale Soil Health Network farm walk at the weekend.
We dug some holes, discussed our findings and thought about how we could improve some very tired soil, bring back some diversity at all levels of the soil food web.
Thank you to everyone who came and contributed so generously of their time and curiosity. Thanks particularly to Abi from Propagate for supporting our first steps on what is going to be an amazing journey.

We had an excellent first Clydesdale Soil Health Network day at Cleghorn Farm & Estate Gardens. Generously facilitated by Abi Mordin of Propagate, we dug holes, applied our senses to the soil and generally had lots of animated discussion. We had hearty soup after our farm walk and we mainly escaped the rain. A diverse mix of farmers and growers, we are already planning our next meet up. We now have chickens and, being people who have never owned chickens, this is a real learning experience!

Things we have worked out already:

🐔 A chicken's wobbly bit on the top is called the comb. Each comb is a different size and shape.
🐔 They make lovely, warbling noises when you get close to them.
🐔 You don't need to add salt to their eggs because they taste AMAZING!
🐔 They are really relaxing to watch.
