Merv & Maria Norfolk's Premier Country Duo, is a Father & Daughter who come from a tiny village just outside King's Lynn, in Norfolk. They present a lively good time show of popular Country, Irish & Sixties which is designed to turn any night into a party. Merv or Mervyn J Futter
as he is probably better known has been a familiar face on the country music scene for many years. He has been involved in music nearly all his life, starting off in the early 1970's in a Rock & Blues Band, Then moving into the Folk Clubs, before joining Spring Fever a function band, in the late 1970's. He decided to follow his love for Country Music and in the early 1980's decided to go it alone which was when Mervyn J Futter launched as a solo act. He didn't look back and worked at clubs and festivals all over the UK, His recording of "You Are No Angel" becoming a national dance floor favourite. He has also written and recorded some beautiful songs. He built his own recording studio ‘The Oasis’ and recorded many albums for busy touring acts. He has also become a popular compere and stage manager working at a number of large festivals. Maria Futter (Lynch) grew up around Country Music, with the sounds of Merle Haggard, Emmylou Harris and Ricky Skaggs filling the house and from the age of 5 Maria attended many of the festivals or clubs her father appeared in, and her love for Country Music soon became apparent. At the age of 13 Maria started to learn to play the bass guitar and showed an interest in joining her father. At the age of 15 Maria began singing and it was clear her passion was in Country Music. It wasn't until Maria was 16 she started to join her father at the odd venue for a couple of songs over time they started to add more and more songs to the show, along with backing vocals, and the age of 21 Merv & Maria were working together full time. Merv & Maria gained a large following and making many friends along the way. Their work has taken them to many Theatre's, Festivals and Country Music Clubs around the UK working alongside some of the biggest names to-date. Nowadays Merv & Maria are very well known for their extremely popular and well organised holiday weekends. They currently run weekends at The Royal Hotel in Great Yarmouth, South Downs Holiday Village near Cromer and Seacroft Holiday Village, Hemsby. These great value weekends have become well known for being very well run and having the very best in entertainment and they frequently sell out well in advance.
