March has been busy as Kenilworth Runners spring into action. Highlights for members include: Couch to 5k graduation, the Leicester Podium 5k, Bath, Battersea, Gloucester and Prague Halves, the Ashby, Milton Keynes and Oundle 20 milers, Rome and the Thames Meander Marathons, the Manchester to Liverpool 50 mile ultra, parkruns, club runs and Sutton Park Road Relays.

In 2024 our club became a charity, inspired by the success of the Two Castles and Kenilworth Half Marathon. Thanks to your support, in 2025 we donated over £68,000 to local causes.

One of those donations funded a new defibrillator in the centre of Beausale — a key halfway point for both the Kenilworth and Warwick half marathons, used by thousands of runners, cyclists and walkers. It’s dedicated to runner Matthew Harris.

Coombe Abbey provided a plenty of mud with lots of water features around the route for the final cross country league race of the season.

Great running from everyone in the team green with fabulous team spirit, support and baking.

Cross country gives us an opportunity to work as a team and embrace the seasonal delights of mud; up skilling our running with a variety of ground reactions.

Congratulations with jazz hands to Bella, who was 2nd overall in the individual competition this season! And a shout out to everyone that helped us secure 5th out of 30 teams in the team competition.

A mudtastic mudfest at Midlands Cross Country Championships in Mallory Park.

Many kinds of mud to challenge our runners on a course that kept us interested and wading in places.

The Pre Christmas rundown featured adventures near and far for many of our Kenilworth Runners with highlights including the Bobble Hat 50k run for Natasha C in Staines, a sunshiny Magalauf Half for Dave P, a fabulous first marathon for Sam L in Valencia with a time of 2:56 while Daniel L and David L added another marathon to their impressive collection.

The Hooky Christmas Canter saw both Helen B’s, Kerrie F, Linda F and Sally H in their festive finery cantering through mudfest fields, Lou A got a silver medal running in her England Vest at the Midlands Masters 10 mile Champs, there were plentiful PB’s at Telford 10k with a hall of fame time for Bella D, our women’s Masters team came 3rd at the Warwickshire XC Champs and there were celebratory finisher sausages for those that ran an extended 10k at Ilmington.

All this and more, alongside our club run staples throughout the week.
