Edinburgh Wild Weekend

Two days, 200km, 3,200m of climbing and plenty of adventure.

Setting off from Portobello, the route headed east through the countryside and into the Lammermuir Hills, where sunshine, a tailwind and blooming heather made for a pretty spectacular first day on the bikes, before heading for the rugged coastline of St Abbs Head and a wild camp right on the edge of the ocean.

Day two was a little gentler, winding through East Lothian villages and over Dunbar Common before following the coast and sections of the John Muir Way back towards Edinburgh.

The perfect mix of gravel tracks, farm roads, woodland, quiet lanes and a few unexpected challenges. Great company, lots of laughs and a brilliant bunch of roamers looking out for each other.

From rolling gravel tracks and winding country lanes to dramatic coastline, our Wild Wessex Weekend was packed with the kind of riding that reminds you why we do this.

Over two days, roamers explored the best of Wiltshire, Dorset and the New Forest, including the iconic descent to Old Harry Rocks, where towering white chalk stacks meet the Jurassic Coast. It was a weekend of beautiful views, great company, plenty of laughs and the simple joy of exploring by bike.

Behind every great adventure is a great route.

For the Roam Scotland Rally, every route was planned, refined and shared using Ride with GPS.

From building and tweaking routes to sharing them with riders, it gave us everything we needed in one place. Riders could access detailed route information, elevation profiles, points of interest and offline navigation - making it easy to stay on track, even in the more remote parts of Scotland.

A huge thank you to the Ride with GPS team for helping us deliver a smooth riding experience from start to finish. We couldn't have asked for a better route-planning partner.

RSR is more than a rally - it’s a community built on challenge, support and shared adventure. It pushed me beyond my comfort zone, challenged and inspired me, and connected me with incredible people. The miles are hard, but it’s the shared struggle, the growth and the friendships along the way that make it truly special. One of the best adventures I’ve ever taken on.

The Spine Rally, Edinburgh to Inverness – 10th-16th May 2026

Roam Scotland Rally is a 7-day self-supported group bikepacking ride from Edinburgh to Inverness, up the spine of scotland. The main ‘rugged’ route is 660km, 8,540m of climbing and 50% off-road. The less tough ‘rolling’ route is 457km, 5870m and 43% off-road.

The Rally follows the format established by the ‘It’s not a race, just a challenge to finish and a question of what to ride and where to focus your efforts’. Riders go at their own pace, with others or solo.

Entry is free, with a voluntary donation to our charitable bikepacking society if you can afford it. You’ll receive a detailed ride guide with interesting detour options, a vague suggestion of where to aim for each day and a supportive Whatsapp group.
