The Hythe Venetian fete Committee is sad to hear of the passing of Clive Emson. Clive gave his time to commentate on the grand parades from 1987 to 2009.

Sound and Music coordinator, Stewart Weller, said: "Always remember Clive climbing up to the [then] always very precarious commentary tower."

Our thoughts are with Clive's family.

Hythe Twinning Association:
"Around a dozen people who may not meet much outside of Twinning functions find themselves thrown together by the challenges of, for example, how do we get the Mary Rose to capsize for the evening run, or how do we make this shark look like it's about to eat Roy Schneider on the Orca? And then there's the final three days actually putting it all together on the canal – the sheer pleasure of seeing everyone else's floats coming together. The atmosphere along the canal reflects that weirdly British community thing of doing something for a bit of a laugh (but let's not forget there's a prize at stake!). And a beer at the end of it."

Successful site meeting on last night.

Stewart Weller (Live music coordinator) and Steve Way (Chair) from Hythe Venetian Fete Committee showed Tom Walton and Gareth Evans from Channel MEP, and Ian McKeown, the Fete’s new volunteer coordinator, how the canal banks and centre stage are transformed for live acts and the big parade.

Channel MEP https://channelmep.co.uk are providing free site management services. They'll be working alongside Steve (who volunteers all his time to the Fete as well as working full time at his firm Collier Stevens Chartered Surveyors)

Numerous contractors are commissioned by the Fete to build fencing and seating, to install facilities, electrics and sound systems, and much more to ensure the event is safe and enjoyable for all.

The cost of this is phenomenal so having free site management services from Channel MEP and Steve is a huge help. They will work with all our paid contractors to ensure everything goes to plan in time for the first live acts that will take to the stage on Sunday 16th August before show day on the 19th.
