Hyde Festival Theatre

Hyde Festival Theatre Hyde Festival Theatre is home to several amateur groups in the area and also available for hire. Included is a small PA and basic lighting grid.

It is the largest traditional live theatre venue in Tameside and in previous years there have been performances of La Cage Aux Folles, The Accrington Pals, Jesus Christ Superstar, Oliver to name but a few. We have also become a home to professional theatre, taking in small scale, high quality touring productions. The Main House

The Main House is where the majority of productions take place with

a wide variety of shows on offer each season including, drama, comedy, musicals, pantomimes and dance. The main house seating capacity is 230 with facilities for up to 2 wheel chairs. Wheel chair accessibility is straight in from the street with no stairs to negotiate. There is a full basic white lighting grid in place along with a fully operational PA System. This can only be operated by a confirmed competent person who has been signed off by Hyde Festival Theatre. There is also fold back to the dressing rooms from the main stage. There is a large Stage area separated from the auditorium by a proscenium arch and two front of house small platform areas called Ashtrays linked to the backstage via curtains. The Madge Bayes Hall (Studio)

Our Madge Bayes is an intimate hire and performance space with a maximum capacity between 60-100 depending on seating layout. It is highly suited to small scale productions, more experimental and cutting edge theatre and is a great space to hire. The studio’s flexibility means that performances can be end on, thrust or in the round. The Bar will be available during performance dates or under special request. The Madge Bayes Hall (Bar/Room)
The Space now includes a small PA system with a basic lighting grid. A projector and screen with HDMI and VGA connection. Hot Drinks vending machine to which tokens can be purchased by the hirer in bulk for cheaper brewing facilities for any event. Depending on seating layout the maximum capacity is between 60-100. PLEASE NOTE THAT AS THE MADGE BAYES HALL IS ONLY ACCESSIBLE BY STAIRS IT MAY NOT BE SUITABLE FOR THOSE WHO HAVE DIFFICULTY CLIMBING STAIRS. THE MADGE BAYES HALL IS APPROX 2 FLOORS UP.

Our fantastic friends at Showstoppers theatre group are well into their 12-Hour Saboteurs Challenge, and the game is proving just as dramatic as expected!

Inspired by the hit TV show The Traitors, The Saboteurs sees players working together to complete challenges, all while trying to uncover the hidden saboteurs amongst them. But beware, the saboteurs are secretly plotting to eliminate players from the game, meaning trust is in short supply and suspicion is everywhere!

There's still time to support this brilliant fundraiser, with all proceeds being shared between Showstoppers Drama Group and Hyde Festival Theatre. Every donation helps support the upkeep of our theatre and ensures we can continue providing opportunities for local performers and audiences alike.

If you'd like to help, please donate here:👇 https://sl1nk.com/4tt5i7b

A huge thank you to everyone who has donated, shared the fundraiser, and supported the players throughout the day.

Exciting news at Hyde Festival Theatre

We’re delighted to celebrate the latest Youth Council initiative becoming a reality!

Our dressing rooms are now equipped with TV screens providing a live feed directly from the stage. This means performers can keep up with all the action backstage and never miss an important cue. 📺

A huge thank you to our fantastic Youth Council for identifying and championing this project, to our Chairman Dan and to everyone who helped bring it to life. It’s a practical improvement that we know will benefit countless performers for years to come.

We’re incredibly proud to see our young people making a real impact on the theatre and helping to enhance the experience for everyone who takes to our stage.

We can’t wait to see what the Youth Council comes up with next!! 👏👏👏

If you’d like to book tickets for any of our upcoming shows, cinema screenings, or performances, you’re very welcome to pop in and see us in person.

This in-person Box Office has been made possible thanks to the wonderful support of our volunteers and the Sparks Theatre Management team, and we look forward to helping you book your next visit.

Behind the scenes at Hyde Festival Theatre

Our amazing volunteers and Youth Council have been hard at work filming brand new safety and training videos and we had such a fun time recreating scenarios, staging evacuations and bringing everything to life

Keeping our patrons, performers and volunteers safe is always our priority, and none of this would be possible without the dedication of our volunteer team

Huge thank you to Ste, Dan, Kelly and Maisie for all their hard work and coordination, and to every volunteer who got involved

🚨 NOT a real emergency… we promise! 🚨

If Hyde Festival Theatre looks a little too dramatic this evening (Thursday 21st May) between 6.15pm–8.15pm, don’t worry — we’re just doing what we do best… putting on a show 🎭

We’re involved in a recording this evening and there will be simulated smoke, fire effects, dramatic lighting and an evacuation taking place. So yes… it may briefly look like the theatre is on fire 😬🔥

Before anyone reaches for the emergency numbers between these times tonight — the fire service have been made aware.
