Sam and Noah have been the Onwards Festival organisers since its conception in 2016. Over the years these two have had plenty to do with the music scene between them booking acts at Bar 1:22, Small Seeds, The Sportsman, Northern Quarter and the Watershed amongst others. They see Onwards Festival as a celebration of their favourite acts around the area and slightly beyond. Come get a taste of their taste in music.

Onwards Festival has always been a roaming musical spectacular - moving an audience from one great venue to the next with a band or two in every location. Come and experience it this year.

One of the acts playing at this years ONWARDS FESTIVAL is the wonderful Katie Spencer.

Katie is 'One of the most satisfying and spellbinding singer-songwriter collections I’ve encountered in some time.' –
RnR Magazine
'Her articulate picking, with suggestions of folk and jazz, frames intelligently written songs’ – Guitarist
Magazine
‘Fresh as a sweet Sunday morning’ – MOJO ★★★★
‘A fine singer-songwriter, and an excellent guitarist’ – Songlines ★★★★

Raised in the East Yorkshire flatlands on the fringes of Hull (UK), Katie Spencer’s landscape has always been
that of open skies and widening rivers. It is this sense of space and movement that flows through her assured
guitar style and songwriting. Katie absorbs these influences into her songwriting and with her distinctive
deep vibrato and crystal-clear guitar style, she makes the music inimitably her own.
Katie released her third album What Love Is in October 2025; an intimate collection of ten brand-new songs
produced by Matt Ingram (Laura Marling, The Staves). It reached #12 in the Official Folk Albums Chart upon
release.
