⭐️ A BIG BIG THANK YOU! ⭐️

We would like to say a really big thank you to everyone who attended and supported our classic vehicle meet last Saturday! 🚘

There is so many people to thank who helped with the organising and running of the day and every single person worked so hard to make the day a success! And what a success it was! ☺️
This year saw 358 vehicles attend which is our biggest attendance to date!

However the biggest thank you goes to each and everyone person who donated in some way. We are so pleased to announce that we raised an amazing £12,548.68 for St Catherines Hospice!

This total and the day itself really wouldn’t have been possible without all the help we received from fabulous friends and family, our lovely staff and all the local businesses who donated in some way! 🥰

We’d also like to say a big thank you to all our lovely musicians (Jon McDevitt, Jockley, Gary Taylor, Brent Yeomans and Jakknife) who kept everyone entertained throughout the day! And a big thank you to Brent Yeomans, Maff Barrett and Phil Honeybone who gave up their time to keep the entertainment running smoothly! 🎶

We are hopeful that next year’s Classic Vehicle Meet will go ahead so please save the date - Saturday 29th August 2026!
We are already putting our heads together to think up new ways to improve and grow the event and hope to see you all (and more!) again next year!

Don’t forget Run Barns Green is taking place on Sunday 28th September all in aid of St Catherine's Hospice. Even if you're not running come along and show your support to those who are or have a look around everything going on on the village green!

🚘 🚘 4 DAYS TO GO 🚘 🚘

Just 4 days to go until our Annual Classic Vehicle Meet on Saturday 23rd - the weather is looking good!! ☀️
Read below for all the details…

🚘 Show cars to arrive from 10am (free entry - donation of your choice into charity bucket if you can)
🥓 FREE bacon rolls for the first 150 drivers
🎶 Live music from 12pm - 5pm
🍗 BBQ from 12pm - 5pm
🍦Ice cream van, coffee van, stall holders and more!
🎟️ Two raffles - one with a chance to win a classic car!! (MOT and tax exempt but a full MOT has just been carried out on it)
🍻 Bar and outside bar with lots of refreshments
🧡 Most importantly it’s all in aid of St Catherine’s Hospice!

With just over three weeks to go until our Classic Vehicle Meet on Saturday 23rd August we are reaching out to any stall holders who would like to attend as we still have room for more!

⭐ your stall DOES NOT have to be ‘vehicle’ related (but these are more than welcome too!) - arts and crafts, clothing, jewellery, cards, flowers whatever it may be!

💵 There is NO charge to attend! All we ask is if you’re able to donate anything to St Catherine’s at the end of the day by popping something in one of the orange buckets that would be great! 🧡

This year’s car show will be taking place on the 23rd August. The locals at the Queen’s Head raised the money for the car and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to St Catherine's Hospice, Crawley 🧡 Raffle tickets, that enter you to win the car, are now available at the Queens Head Public House, Barns Green and also on the day!

🚗 WIN A CLASSIC CAR! 🚗

23rd August 2025

This year will be the 15th annual Barns Green classic vehicle meet in aid of St Catherine's
Hospice! 🧡

We have had over 320 vehicles attend in the past and we hope to see you all again this year plus more!
With the threat of housing going up on the field this might be the last event, if it is we want to go out with a bang and get as much money for St Catherine's Hospice as possible so we are once again raffling a CLASSIC CAR. More details to follow so keep an eye out on this page.
We will have live music throughout the day, BBQ and a selection of great raffle prizes! ^
Complimentary bacon rolls will also be offered to the first 150 drivers of show cars arriving between 10am and 11.30am.
Please keep an eye out on our pub and event pages for updates on what we hope will be a great day to raise vital funds for such a worthy cause!

THE BEGINNING OF THE END

This morning I saw two men doing soil samples in the field opposite the shop and pub. This will be detrimental to the feel of the Village and the start of us ending up like other ‘villages’ such as Billingshurst and Southwater with that side of the road becoming all houses through the centre of the village. This would mean Horsham District Council would be destroying yet another village.
The road surfaces we have can’t cope as it is. Chapel Road is flooded every year due to the bad drainage. The secondary schools don’t even have room for the kids we have, let alone getting seen by a doctor or dentist.
The Queens Head has been serving the village since 1750. A large part of the food trade is people coming to a country pub. Not a pub in a housing estate.
Other large developments in the area have been paused as they can not sell the properties so why build more until those that have been approved can be sold and completed.
Planning hasn’t gone in yet but once it has they will not leave us much time. This field is not owned by Sumners Ponds.
If we all email the planning office and copy in MP and others. (List below) we might stand a chance. Doing nothing is NOT an option for us all. Please don’t leave it as you think the house next door will. We all need to email in or in a few years the village will be like Billingshurst and Southwater.

⭐️ TOMORROW ⭐️
(Saturday 24th August)

Come rain or shine this event will still be going ahead so let’s keep our fingers crossed they have the forecast wrong 😂 🌧️ ☀️
However if you can still make it if there is a drop or two of rain we’d really appreciate it as we have some great raffle prizes, fab musicians performing throughout the day and food and drink available! 🌭 🍦 🎶
Plus a selection of cars, stalls and inflatables 🏰 🚙
