I still can’t believe this is the last photo I’ll ever take of you…

You looked so peaceful wrapped in your blanket, like you were just having one of your long naps. I kept my hand on you the whole time, because I didn’t want you to feel alone for even a second. You’ve been by my side through everything, and the thought of you not being here now just doesn’t feel real.

It’s crazy how a dog can take up so little space physically… but leave the biggest hole when they’re gone.

I keep expecting to hear your paws on the floor, or see you trot into the room with that look that said, “Come on, it’s cuddle time.” The silence tonight is horrible. Too quiet. Too empty.

I hope you knew how loved you were.
I hope you felt safe.
I hope you left this world knowing that you were my best mate, every single day of your life.

Sleep tight, my boy.
Thank you for choosing me.
I’ll miss you more than I can put into words. 🐾💔
