1 Day to Go!

As always, we are thrilled to be joined by Ickle Drama to delight us with a short show in the Centre Ring at 3.00pm.

For those who don't know Ickle Drama - their aim is to help children to develop confidence for performance which naturally transcends into everyday life.

This year Ickle Drama have embraced our Country theme with their finale being a homage to Western films. However, before that you will be treated to a performance of a Country music influenced song from Sponge Bob Square Pants, find out where Broccoli comes from, and see a bunch of rapping grannies!!

The children love performing at the Pirton Summer Fair and it is considered one of the highlights of the Ickle Drama Summer Term, so much so that every group joins in with the performance.

Ickle Drama run weekly drama classes for children aged 5-18 at Ickleford Village Hall, and at Pirton, Offley and Preston Schools. They also run holiday performance weeks during the Easter and Summer holidays, and workshops during the February half term. There are still spaces available for their Stage Week 4-8th August 2025 - 'Shakespeare Rocks'

DOG SHOW CANCELLED

It will come as no surprise to our followers that the Summer Fair Committee have had to make the reluctant decision to cancel the Fun Dog Show on tomorrow's Centre Ring schedule. The temperatures are going to be far too high for us to be able to host this part of the show safely.

If you are planning to attend the show with your pooches, please be reassured that there are areas of shade and bowls of water will be provided and replenished regularly, however we would encourage you to consider leaving them at home in the cool.

We are reviewing the Centre Ring schedule so do expect some slight tweaks as a result of this change.

6 days to go!!

New to the fair this year is the Fancy Dress Competition. Pirton Summer Fair is naturally on trend with a Country theme seamlessly woven through the day - enjoy the American BBQ, purchase Country & Western gift items at the stalls, enjoy a whiskey cocktail at Rupert & Oscar's Cocktail Saloon Bar, witness Committee Members donning their Cowboy Hats & Boots, the Centre Ring games are all themed accordingly, and the Ickledrama performance at 3pm takes influences from the films of the time.

At 3.30pm our very own village seamstress, 'Caroline Couture,' will be stepping into the Centre Ring to cast her expert eyes over the entrants in the Fancy Dress Competition. Depending on the number of entrants on the day, we may divide adults and children into separate categories.

Please don't let it only be the Committee Members dressed up on the day - get your country glad rags on and 'Come on Hoedown' (see what I did there 😁!)

Shameless local business plug - 'Dance of Hitchin' have a huge delivery of Cowboy hats on Monday/Tuesday this coming week - starting from £2.50 - so there are no excuses not to get involved

EDITED 11th July - DOG SHOW CANCELLED DUE TO EXTREME TEMPERATURES

The countdown to the event of the year is on! Just 9 days to go - so we thought it the perfect time to start giving you a sneak peak of what entertainment we have in the Centre Ring on the day!

Starting with the ever popular Fun Dog Show - we are a village of dog lovers after all! Taking place in the ring at 2pm we will be joined by Graeme Mason from Henlow Vets - our kind sponsors for this event. Graeme will be judging the entrants in the following classifications:-

- Waggiest Tail
- Most Impressive Trick
- Obedience
- Cutest Puppy (under 1 year)
- Best in Show

Please note this event is weather dependent. In light of the recent high temperatures please read the following advice from the Kennel Club regarding when it is safe to take your dogs outside depending on size, breed or age. https://www.kcinsurance.co.uk/guides-and-advice/when-is-it-too-hot-to-walk-your-dog We will review the weather forecast nearer the time. The welfare of your dogs is of paramount importance to us. The fun dog show itself is only 15 minutes and there are many shaded areas at the venue and plenty of fresh water will be provided, but if it is scheduled to be too hot on the day we will make the necessary decision to cancel and appreciate your understanding.

We are on the hunt for a few items to borrow for the Centre Ring games at the Summer Fair. As always we will be playing a dress up game and are looking for Cowboy hats, size L/XL checked shirts, and very large welly boots (size 11/12) if anyone has anything they would be happy to donate or loan for the afternoon?

We are also looking for a few empty Jack Daniel’s bottles?

If you can help let me know and I’ll arrange to come round and collect.
