Location: Beautiful Historic Country Estate, outside Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire
Position: Part-Time / Freelance / Job-Share Potential
Are you a highly experienced, practical, and reliable pair of hands looking for a unique role? We are looking for someone special to join us on our farm and yard. Our animals are family, and we pride ourselves on providing five-star care. Because this role is varied and non-traditional, we are open to conversations and job-sharing to find the perfect fit.
We really need the right fit here as it’s a unique role
🌟 Primary Responsibility: Our Stunt Horses
Your main focus will be assisting with our beautifully trained Spanish and Friesian stunt horses. They live out, so we bring them into the yard during the day for training and routine checks.
Duties include:
Bringing horses in safely and making up feeds.
High-standard grooming and maintaining their long manes.
Picking out feet and applying any necessary creams or lotions.
Changing rugs as required.
Essential: Exceptional groundwork and handling skills. Because of the professional work these horses do, superb and safe handling is an absolute must.
Riding only available to confident and experienced riders an interest in horsemanship would be useful
🚜 Smallholding & Farm Duties
We have a busy farm with a wonderful menagerie of animals, so you must be someone who loves variety and isn't afraid to roll up your sleeves!
Other tasks include:
General farm maintenance, including fixing fencing on occasions
Paddock picking, mucking out, and keeping the yard immaculate.
Moving our goats and helping care for our pet pigs, cleaning out the Red Deer and Fox pen for example
Cleaning out and feeding our other resident animals - people laugh that it’s like a mini zoo here
Taking genuine joy and pride in keeping the entire yard beautifully presented.
💼 Future Opportunities
For the right person who fits seamlessly into our team, there is exciting potential for extra work, including:
Assisting and helping out during our courses.
Potentially helping out on active filming days.
🔍 What You Need to Bring to the Table
We are looking for a professional who can hit the ground running. We do not have the time to train someone in the basics, so you must already possess strong, safe handling skills with horses and ideally other types of animals.
Experience: Proven, extensive experience handling horses and farm animals safely.
Reliability: You must be 100% reliable—this is the most important quality to us.
Fitness: Must be over 18, strong, fit, and capable of physical estate work. We cannot accept younger due to our insurance and you must also carry your own insurance if freelance
Transport: Must have your own reliable transport. We are located on a historic estate and are not easily accessible via public transport.
Public-Facing Skills: Well-presented, confident, and enthusiastic about interacting with the public and assisting with lessons.
🏡 Accommodation Notice
No permanent living accommodation is available on site.
However, we could offer a summer job to someone who owns and travels in their own live-in caravan, motorhome, or campervan. Otherwise, you must be able to commute with ease.
