Helensburgh & District Open Week Annual Lawn Bowling Tournament, hosted by clubs from around the Helensburgh area (Gareloch BA). Welcome to the Helensburgh & District Open Week page!

This tournament has been run by the Gareloch Bowling Association since 1983 and is currently hosted by Colgrain, Garelochhead and Helensburgh Bowling Clubs. This year we celebrate 40 YEARS of our Open We

ek tournament! Bowlers from all over Scotland and further a field have been coming to this week-long event for years due to it's unique setup, the chance to meet new friends and challenge themselves. Competitions Include:
Singles - Mens/Ladies/U16/Over 60's
Pairs - Mens/Ladies/Mixed
Triples - Mixed (open to players knocked out of Mens/Ladies singles before 2nd Round)

You are invited to take part in 2023 which is intended to be the best tournament ever and a celebration of the sport after a difficult period for the whole country. Total Prize Money for 2023 will be in excess of ยฃ2000. Just send in an entry form, in June we'll send you the draw/fixtures and all you need to do is turn up on the day. Enjoy your game of bowls and who knows, there could be a trophy or two with your name on it!

As a follow-up to our earlier posts, entries for the Gent's Senior Singles and the revamped Mixed Triples will open on June 1st and close at 5.30pm on Wednesday 8th July during the tournament, with the first games scheduled for Thursday 9th July.

โ„น๏ธ๐— ๐—ถ๐˜…๐—ฒ๐—ฑ ๐—ง๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—ฝ๐—น๐—ฒ๐˜€ ๐—ฅ๐—ฒ๐˜ƒ๐—ฎ๐—บ๐—ฝ
The mixed triples is a drawn competition, open to those not still in the mens/ladies singles after Wednesday 8th July, so if you are knocked out the singles on or before this date (or don't enter them) you can enter the triples as an individual and be drawn into a team (the same criteria applies to the Senior Singles)

๐Ÿ‘‰This year, the triples will adopt a 2 Bowl Triples format and be extended to 15 ends. This will make the games slightly faster, but will also increase the number of ends and opportunities to score. It is hoped this will make matches more fun, exciting, and less one-sided if there is a big score in an early end.

๐Ÿ”ฅFurther - there will be no burnt ends! This helps to ensure games finish within the scheduled times. Instead, re-spots on the 'T' will be adopted.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Open Week is back for 2026 with a new look format. It's still the tournament you know and love, but augmented to help improve entry numbers and make it easier for those with other commitments to still enter!

All finals will take place at Helensburgh Bowling Club. Due to a double-up the Gents Pairs will be an early start at 10.00am, with further finals at 2.00pm (pairs/triples) and 2.30pm (singles)
