VOLNTEERS WANTED!
During the festival 2-9th August we need volunteers to help sell Scarecrow Guides at Heather Football Club. The Club is open every day to purchase guides (and provide lovely refreshments! 🍔🥪🍟🍰🥤) between 10am and 5pm so we need help to man the desk.
The more volunteers we get, the better! Everyone who has volunteered previously has said how much they enjoy being involved, so if you can spare a couple of hours on any of the 8 days please get in touch!!
Thanks to everyone who already signed up! We couldn’t do it without you!

Heather residents, if you aren’t making your own (which we really hope you are!) we are looking for hosts for scarecrows made by schools and some local community groups who have asked to get involved, please message us if you can help in this way.

A reminder to scarecrow creators that this year's Di Everett Award will be for the best use of straw.

Cattows Farm have confirmed they are happy to supply some straw to villagers. You will need to go to the Farm and ask in the cafe. You will need to take bags with you.

You may remember that we asked for suggestions for a category for this year's Di Everett Award. You came up with many brilliant ideas. We've decided that this year's award will be for "the best use of straw."

This annual award is named after Di, who started the Scarecrow in Heather. It is judged independently by one of our sponsors.

On 29th March, we held an event at Heather St John's Football Club to celebrate the fact that Heather Scarecrow Festival has been awarded the Kings Award for Voluntary Service. Representatives of groups who benefit from funds raised by the Scarecrow Festival were invited. We were also honoured to welcome the Lord Lieutenant of Leicestershire Mike Kapur OBE CStJ, who presented a beautiful crystal trophy before mingling with guests. This was a very proud moment for all of us and has motivated us to continue to work hard to ensure that the people of our community and far beyond will be able to enjoy this event for years to come.
