Sadly, this month on Monday, 29th, we are not able to have the back room of The Crown. Unfortunately, they need the room for a darts match, so there will be no Session.
Meanwhile, I'm going to take a few months out to think things over. Maybe I'll start up again in the new year or maybe it's time to try something new. I've got a couple of ideas in the pipeline and I will keep you posted. Meanwhile, I'm always open to ideas and if anybody has any thoughts or suggestions I would be very happy to hear them.
I look forward to meeting up with you all sometime soon.

Regular attendees at Guy's Acoustic Session will be very familiar with this month's feature act, Maddison Blues. Sadly, I had to cancel due to ill health in April but now these lovely people are back on the bill for their first feature spot. WooHoo!!!
What with Linda's strong bluesy vocals, Roy's subtle guitar and Brian's smooth harmonies make for a not to be missed blend of music. Come see for yourself!
It would be great to see some of you there, bring yourselves, bring your friends and bring an instrument or just come along to enjoy the atmosphere. Either way you're all welcome here! 🙂

One of the best things to come out of these Sessions is when people meet, get together and form bands or duos and the like. For far too many reasons, this band is my favourite.
Phantom Horse is comprised of the legend that is Mick Smith with his wonderful vocal skills, David Gray on fiddle and mandolin, Ben Storer on upright bass and yours truly on guitar, banjo and vocals. It's a pure joy to play with these wonderful musicians and I hope you will come along and support us.
It would be great to see some of you there. Bring yourselves, bring your friends. Better still bring an instrument and play a couple of songs or just come along to enjoy the atmosphere. Either way you're all welcome here! 🙂

Hi All, this month's feature spot is Jan and Pete. I've been trying to get this highly popular act to do a feature spot for quite some time and they've finally agreed.
Jan and Pete have been around the local scene in various guises for as long as I can remember. However, I think this is my favourite line-up. Performing an eclectic mix of covers and Jan's own, often powerful songs. Add in Pete's delicate guitar playing and Jan's lovely vocals and you have some great entertainment.
It would be great to see some of you there, bring yourselves, bring your friends and bring an instrument or just come along to enjoy the atmosphere. Either way you're all welcome here! 🙂

Here we go! Yes we are back in business and this month sees the welcome return of the wonderful singer, songwriter Mick Mangan. Mick is a wonderful finger pick guitarist, who writes imaginative and thought provoking songs which he performs with sensitivity and panache. At least he's got my vote!
Mick’s music is inspired by folk culture, nature, stories and personal experience, and his compositions and interpretations fuse influences from traditional and contemporary folk, blues, rock and Americana to create a distinctive sound and style.
It would be great to see some of you there, bring yourselves, bring your friends and bring an instrument or just come along to enjoy the atmosphere. Either way you're all welcome here! 🙂

Regular attendees at Guy's Acoustic Session will be very familiar with this month's feature act, Maddison Blues. These lovely people have been supporting my nights for quite some time but we've never had them as the feature act before. WooHoo!!!

I've got something new for you this month. I've been trying to organise a date for these excellent musicians for some time now, so please let me introduce Lost Cause.
Lost Cause is a trio of Mel, Eric and David playing guitar bass and mandolin playing in the Nottingham area. Starting out as a bluegrass band and now best described as playing acoustic Americana. Their bluegrass roots still strongly influences their musical arrangements and choice of songs but they believe you can't keep a good song down and their repertoire reflects this.
It would be great to see some of you there, bring yourselves, bring your friends and bring an instrument or just come along to enjoy the atmosphere. Either way you're all welcome here! 🙂

We've really got something special coming up next Monday with a feature spot from two top professional musicians Chris Lloyd, founder member of the hugely successful band Talon and local superstar Keith Buck who also plays with Talon amongst other things. Talon have been quietly packing out theatres up and down the country since 1997. Although they are primarily known for their Eagles repertoire, it does not in any way define them and their breadth of their material is stunning. This is an extremely rare opportunity to see two consummate performers in an intimate acoustic setting. Don't miss it! 🥰
Needless to say, there will be performances from other local artists including myself. All are welcome whether you come to play or just sit and listen 🙂

I thought we might as well get the first Guy's Acoustic Session of the new year off to a good start and so I've asked the redoubtable Phil Riley to be our first feature act of 2025. Regulars to the session will be very familiar with Phil's abilities as a singer songwriter, musician and performer.
In his own words, "My songs are whimsical, reflective, occasionally silly, tongue in cheek, political, autobiographical, fictional, serious, songs of love, songs of experience, ​songs of imaginings".
It would be awesome to see some of you there. Please, bring yourselves, bring your instruments and most importantly, bring your friends. Either way, come along and enjoy the atmosphere, you're all welcome here! 🙂

Merry Christmas All. This month, given the close proximity to New Year's Eve, Guy's Acoustic Session will just be an informal jam session in the top room at the Crown Inn. All are welcome whether you want to and play or just sit and listen.

Yay!!! This month's featured artist is the fabulous Danny Willson. Danny's probably best known for his work with Martin Turner's Wishbone Ash, he is also to be seen locally playing with his band The Cheeze. Danny is a fabulous performer and a top notch guitarist, he is also well known for his mischievous sense of humour. He will be doing a rare acoustic set for us featuring some of his favourite songs along with some of his own compositions. I hope you'll join me in welcoming Danny to the session. Why not come down and join in the fun on the 25th.
