Who are we? 💜

Dreamscape Community Connections C.I.C. is a local not-for-profit community organisation based in Heanor, supporting people across Heanor, Ilkeston and surrounding areas.

We create calm, low-pressure spaces for people who may feel anxious, overwhelmed, isolated, neurodivergent, chronically ill, burnt out, lonely, or simply unsure where they fit.

We are not a clinic.
We are not therapy.
We are not here to force confidence, conversation or change.

We are here to make community feel gentler.

At Dreamscape, you can come alone, bring someone with you, sit quietly, join in, take a break, or simply observe until you feel ready.

Our meet-ups include things like:

The story behind our logo 💜

When Dreamscape Community Connections C.I.C. was created, I didn’t just want a logo that looked nice.

I wanted a logo that meant something.

The soft hills represent the journey so many of us are on. The ups, the downs, the quiet moments, the harder moments, and the places where we slowly begin to feel safe, seen and understood.

The dots and connecting lines represent community and connection.

But one of my favourite parts is that each dot is a different size and a different colour because not one of us is the same.

We all experience life differently.
We all carry different stories.
We all have different needs, different strengths, different struggles, and different ways of connecting.

And that is exactly what Dreamscape is about.

A space where difference is not something to hide.
A space where you do not have to fit a mould to belong.
A space where you can come exactly as you are.

The colours were chosen to feel soft, calm and welcoming. Not clinical, not overwhelming and not cold.

Just gentle, human and full of meaning.

Our tagline says it best:

Where Quiet Hearts Find Home.

Because Dreamscape is for the people who may feel anxious, overwhelmed, neurodivergent, lonely, exhausted, chronically tired, or like they have never quite fitted in elsewhere.

This logo is more than just branding.

It is a reflection of the kind of community we are building.

One where every person is different.
Every person matters.
And every person belongs. 💜

🎨 Paint a Present for Father’s Day 💜

Father’s Day can mean something different for everyone.

It might be for Dad, Grandad, Stepdad, Uncle, a father figure, someone special, someone you are missing, or simply someone you want to make a thoughtful handmade gift for.

Dreamscape Community Connections C.I.C. is running two calm, creative Father’s Day gift-making evenings where you can make something meaningful in a low-pressure, welcoming space.

You’ll be able to make:

💜 A handmade keyring
💜 A Father’s Day card
💜 A painted plate or mug
💜 Something personal, thoughtful and made by you

Buffet-style food is included with crafting tickets.

No pressure to be “good” at crafts.
No pressure to talk lots.
No pressure to come in confident.

Just a gentle evening of creating, sitting, chatting if you want to, and making something with meaning.

What’s Coming up at Dreamscape in June! 🌿

We have some exciting things coming up this June at Dreamscape Community Connections C.I.C.

Gentle meet-ups.
Creative sessions.
Walks.
Food.
Bowling.
Hair skills.
And calm, low-pressure spaces where you do not have to arrive confident to belong.

Dreamscape is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company. Any surplus goes straight back into the community to help us keep creating calm, welcoming spaces.

To run sustainably, our low-pressure meet-ups do need enough bookings. If required numbers are not met, some sessions may unfortunately need to be postponed, so early booking really does help us plan safely and fairly.

A creative gift-making session where you can make something meaningful for Dad, Grandad, a father figure, someone special, in memory of someone, or simply for yourself.

🎲 Tonight at Corner Cafe in Ilkeston 🎲

Our Board Games Café Night is happening this evening, and you are so welcome to join us.

This is a calm, low-pressure space to come along, play a few games, meet others gently, or simply sit in the room and be around people without the pressure to talk.

You can come on your own, with a friend, or with someone who helps you feel more comfortable.

Ponytails, Plaits & Patience 💜

Because doing someone’s hair should not feel like a battle every morning.

This gentle Dreamscape workshop is for mums, women and carers who want to feel a little more confident with basic hair skills in a calm, supportive space.

Whether you’re trying to learn ponytails, simple plaits, brushing without the stress, or just want tips from people who understand, this session is designed to be low-pressure and beginner friendly.

You do not need to be good at hair.
You do not need to know what you’re doing already.
You are welcome to come, learn, ask questions, laugh, make mistakes and try again.

This workshop may be helpful if you support a child, young person or adult who finds hair brushing, styling or sensory routines difficult.

It’s not about perfect hair.
It’s about confidence, patience and making everyday routines feel a little easier.

Can you spare around 5 hours a month to help someone feel less alone in the community?

Dreamscape Community Connections C.I.C. is looking for kind, calm people to become Community Companions.

A Community Companion is someone who gently walks alongside another person as they build confidence, try something new, or feel more supported in everyday spaces.

This could look like:

💜 Helping someone attend a Dreamscape meet-up for the first time
💜 Sitting with someone who feels nervous or overwhelmed
💜 Giving a helping hand with shopping or small errands
💜 Supporting someone to try something new at their own pace
💜 Offering a calm welcome at community events
💜 Helping create safer, kinder, low-pressure spaces

You do not need to be loud, confident or have all the answers.

You just need to be reliable, caring, respectful of boundaries, and willing to learn.

We usually ask Community Companions to offer around 5 hours a month, especially in the first few months, so we can build consistency, trust and safe support.

Community Companions must be 18+.
DBS and safeguarding may be required depending on the type of support offered.

This role starts as voluntary, but as Dreamscape grows, there may be a pathway into future paid sessional opportunities for committed Companions who complete training and are suited to additional responsibilities.

There is no pressure to want paid work. Volunteering a few hours a month is already a huge and valued gift.

But for those who would love to grow with Dreamscape, this could become a gentle stepping stone into meaningful community work.

Just a few of the incredible games we’ve been able to get thanks to the amazing support from Liniar 🌿

Their generous £100 Amazon voucher has helped us add more board games and resources for our Dreamscape sessions, giving people more ways to connect, relax, laugh, and join in at their own pace.

For some people, walking into a room and starting a conversation can feel really hard. But a game on the table can make that first step feel a little softer.
