✈️ Aircraft Announcement – Aero Legends' Harvard Pair
The unmistakable roar of radial engines will return to the skies at the 2026 Aero Legends Battle of Britain Air Show at RAF Woodchurch with the appearance of two beautifully restored Harvard trainers — G-DDMV and G-BGHU ‘Carly’. These iconic aircraft, synonymous with training generations of military pilots, bring with them remarkable global histories spanning wartime service, Cold War operations and beyond. Built in 1943, G-DDMV later served with the Haitian Air Force, where aircraft of its type were even used in armed operations, before returning to civilian life and eventually joining Aero Legends following a full restoration. Alongside it, ‘Carly’ — originally constructed in 1941 — served with the USAAF, French Air Force in Algeria, and Portuguese Air Force in Angola, reflecting the Harvard’s versatility in both training and combat support roles. Today, both aircraft are presented in authentic military schemes, including markings representative of Korean War-era forward air control missions. Their display offers a powerful tribute to the aircraft that trained the pilots of WWII and beyond, and remains a firm favourite with airshow audiences thanks to their distinctive sound, elegant formation flying and rich operational heritage.
