The Northern Fungi Festival is back for 2026!

We're very happy to be bringing this celebration of all things fungi back for its second year - these time we are being hosted by Ruberslaw Wild Woods Camping, over the border near Denholm. Sitting on 500 acres of unspoilt upland is set in the heart of the Teviot Valley's Special Landscape Area, this year is set to be a very immersive experience.

We're still very much in the early stages of planning, but we wanted to let you know that the festival will be taking place on Sunday 11th October.

If anyone would like to be involved whether it be fungal forays, market stalls, or activity providers, please feel free to reach out to us via Messenger and let us know.

We'll be releasing more information over the coming months as it comes in, but for now, mark your calendars for 11th October.

What a day! 🍄

The wind died down, the sun came out and so many of you came along to the first The Northern Fungi Festival at Paxton House yesterday! The whole day was packed with fungi forays, arts and crafts, bushcraft workshops, mushroom talks and demonstrations, cooking and just an all round celebration of the wonderfully weird and incredibly versatile world of fungi.

We want to thank each and everyone of you who came along, we want you to know we appreciate it and all of the kind words we received at the festival yesterday. We hope you all throughly enjoyed it as much as we did and that you managed to attend all of workshops and activities.

Our deepest of thanks goes out to Paxton House and all of the businesses and individuals who came along on the day and helped out in the run up to things with organising as well - we could not have had the day we did without all of you bringing your own incredible energy and personality to the festival. And of course, many thanks to the Association of Foragers for kindly sponsoring the event.

We'll be sharing more photos over the next week or so as they come in, and then we'll be taking a bit of a break before we begin putting our heads together again and thinking forward to next year, but for now, thank you all again - what an incredible day it turn out to be.

Rachel & Gemma

This is the last update from us before The Northern Fungi Festival at Paxton House tomorrow!

We are very excited to welcome so many different businesses and individuals to festival, who all share a love of the weird and wonderful world of fungi.

There is a full schedule of activities and walks planned which are taking place throughout the day which you can see in the last photo. Timetables will be available on the day, so don't worry about trying to remember it all and we'll make sure you're in the right place at the right time!

We've had a few questions about the weather over the last 24 hours and it seems set to die down again by Sunday morning and our plan is to go ahead with the festival - if this changes we'll make an announcement on social media, but its unlikely.

We hope you all have a fantastic, fungi inspired day and we can't wait to see you all there!

We are proud to welcome Tee Christie of Caraway and Sorrel, and Bespoke Brownies to The Northern Fungi Festival this coming Sunday at Paxton House. You'll find her in the marquee at her Feral stall where you'll be able to enjoy an incredible array of wild and delicious foods!

"Passionate, creative, and deeply rooted in the natural world, I am a chef and professional forager with many years experience transforming harvests from hedgerow, coastline and woodland into nourishing, seasonal cuisine.

Blending traditional knowledge with contemporary culinary innovation, my work celebrates the alchemy of wild flavours and aromatics, alongside self-empowerment, sustainability and the profound healing power of reconnecting with nature.

Through wild food experiences, plant-based feasts, and educational workshops, I help people rediscover their relationship with the land - building confidence, resilience, and creativity in the kitchen and beyond.

For me, foraging is more than food: it's a pathway to mental wellbeing, to self-trust and self reliance, through a joyful, grounded life. "
