🌕Something special is happening in the night sky…
Tomorrow night we will be treated to a rare Blue Moon - the second full moon in a single month. It doesn’t actually glow blue, but it does make the moment feel a little more magical.
Take a moment to step outside, look up, and soak it in. Nights like this don’t come around often.
We’d love to see it through your eyes - share your moon photos in the comments below. 📸🌙

With August’s partial solar eclipse in mind, some of the team have been busy practicing their Solar imaging ☀️

Using a mixture of scopes from a Lunt 80 to a SeeStar S30 smart scope, Steve and Alana have caught some beautiful captures of the sun over the years, including one “Image of the Day” on Astrobin by Steve. Not an easy feat! 🏆

Take a look at today’s ’Stories’ for more Solar images from the team, and keep an eye on our website for further details of our solar eclipse viewing party in August!☀️☀️☀️☀️

Professor Dartnell will take us on an extraordinary journey through time, exploring how geology, climate, mountains, oceans, plate tectonics, and even astronomical cycles, have helped shape human evolution, civilisation, politics, and the modern world.

The talk will follow our Annual General Meeting.

We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday!

🌠 Mark your calendars! The Lyrid meteor shower lights up the sky today April 16th - 25th - peaking the night of April 22nd.

Not the busiest shower, but some meteors leave glowing dust trails that linger for seconds. ✨With the Moon in a thin crescent, the sky will be perfectly dark for stargazing.
