The Hartfield Village Fete will be held on Saturday 3rd September 2022 in conjunction with Hartfield Horticultural Society show. A warm welcome awaits you when you arrive at the Hartfield Village Fete Horticultural & Dog Show ready to enjoy a full afternoon’s entertainment. The Town Croft is a picturesque location situated in the lovely Sussex country village of Hartfield, home of Winnie the Pooh. Our fete grows in popularity each year and has earned a reputation for being one of the best around. Last year a fantastic sum of £12,000 was given out. ENTRY DETAILS
Car parking is FREE in the field adjacent to the Town Croft, but there will be a £1 FETE ENTRY CHARGE for everybody (except for babes in arms and small children in buggies). For this single gold coin you will get a wealth of free entertainment for ALL ages throughout the whole afternoon. A separate optional village directory/ programme will also be on sale for £1 - this will carry a lucky number for a cash prize and detailed time table of events during the day as well as packed with local information. Details of how to apply for funds from the proceeds of the fete will be included therein. Disabled facilities are of course available but even if you are a blue badge holder you must still apply to the Fete Committee in advance, giving your car registration number as such spaces are in very short supply and you will not be allowed onto the Croft without such a pass. HORTICULTURAL & DOG SHOW
The spacious marquee will house a fantastic array of flowers and produce together with amazing crafts and photographic exhibits. Entry forms for all categories will be available at Hartfield Village Stores including some for children. The popular dog show with many classes always attracts many entries. The Doggie Dash and Doggie Hide & Seek returns – enormous fun for both dogs and owners. REFRESHMENTS
Why not start with a refreshing drink from our well-stocked bar and linger there whilst you meet and chat with friends old and new. Feast on the succulent choice from the BBQ with vegetarian options or perhaps choose a lighter meal from a selection of salad and quiches. As the afternoon wears on, just imagine sitting relaxing with a refreshing cuppa whilst taking in the beautiful surroundings and tucking into a selection of truly scrumptious homemade teas and cakes. FREE PROFESSIONAL CHILDREN’S ENTERTAINMENT
We will be confirming our childrens entertainment acts soon. Last year we included High Voltage Entertainment with Stilt Walker, Fire Eater and Magic Shows. Chrissie Face-painter, Helter Skelter, Old time Fairground Rides, Maypole dancing by St. Mary’s school. Children’s races, Beat the Goalie, Space Hoppers, Active Play and lots of side shows suitable for children as well as quieter activities in some of the gazebos. STALLS & SIDESHOWS
This year we hope to have around thirty diverse commercial stalls all offering individual, attractive goods for sale. Local village groups will be running the ever popular side shows including bottle tombola, plants, cakes, books, children’s toys, good clothing and bric-a-brac etc. ENTERTAINMENT
We will be confirming all of our wonderful entertainment soon but we are sure to have Morris Dancers performing and watch out for the vintage vehicles and steam engines. We also hope to have returning the Nigel Bagge Band with the sound of “roots & blues with a touch of country, soul and rock and roll” will echo melodiously around the ground. RAFFLE
Several meaningful cash prizes and a variety of other exciting prizes to be won. Don't miss out - support your local village fete!

Lots of other domestic and fruit and veg classes too, check out the schedule for the show on 12/9/26 on the Hartfield Horticultural Society webpage - hartfieldhortionline.co.uk 🙂

Eat your heart out The Great British Bake Off Casting! My daughter (with a little help from me) has made the best Victoria sponge with Hugh Lowe Farms strawberries, whipped cream and buttercream icing. It’s delicious. I think we’re ready for the big time!
