🎉 We're delighted to be adding Out Together to the line up for this year's Great Yorkshire Show!

This pioneering charity is all about tackling social isolation and loneliness in the LGBTQ+ community, particularly among older generations.

Their work is inspired by a legacy from late North Yorkshire farmer Mike Potter, who did not come out until he was aged 72.

One of the Great Yorkshire Show’s most prestigious livestock competitions has been renamed in memory of former Chief Cattle Steward Margaret Chapman.

The Blythewood Pairs Trophy will now be known as the Margaret Chapman Pairs from the 2026 Show onwards. The award recognises the best pairs of cattle in the beef and dairy sections.

Margaret gave more than 50 years of voluntary service to the Show and was a highly respected figure within the Yorkshire Agricultural Society, serving as its President from 2021 to 2022. She was instrumental in many aspects of the cattle programme and introduced the Blythewood Pairs in 2008.

At the 2026 Show, the Margaret Chapman Dairy Pairs will be judged on Thursday 16 July and the Beef Pairs on Friday 17 July in the Main Ring. You can read the full story on our website - https://media.yasdigital.com/2026/05/26/great-yorkshire-show-renames-cattle-competition/
