Today marks the eighth annual Surrey Day - a county-wide celebration bringing together communities, attractions and local businesses to showcase everything that makes Surrey such a special place to live, work and visit. 🌄

Led by partners Visit Surrey, BBC Surrey and The Surrey Lieutenancy, the day shines a spotlight on Surrey’s rich heritage, vibrant culture, stunning landscapes and inspiring people. 🌳

Over the years, has been championed by a host of well-known ambassadors including HRH The Duke of Edinburgh (then Duke of Wessex), Dame Judi Dench, Dame Penelope Keith, Sir Brian May and Sir Brian Blessed. ✨️

This year’s ambassador is renowned space scientist, presenter and author Dame Maggie Aderin, a proud Guildford resident whose passion for discovery and community perfectly reflects the spirit of Surrey Day. 🌌

There’s plenty happening across the county today, with special events, local celebrations and live giveaways and coverage on BBC Radio Surrey. 🥳

There is a tiny parade happening down at the water! 🦆✨

Our Egyptian Geese family is out and about today at Birtley Estate, showing their little ones the ropes. It’s "baby season" here, and between the fluffy goslings and our elegant resident swans, the estate is feeling extra lively this May.

Nature is putting on quite the show right now. 🌿
