Test your walking and navigation skills on 3 scenic routes whilst discovering and connecting with the landscape around you. Bring your walking boots, map reading skills and compass and join us for a fantastic self navigated walk at the heart of the Goring Gap. We supply the means to discover (our Coddiwomple walking pack navigation and discovery notes) stunning chalk hills, intriguing history, nat
ure and a great walking challenge. We have three fantastic routes for you. Choose to walk one, two or all three and discover for yourself the special landscape and rich history of the Goring Gap, forged by nature and man over thousands of years. Seasoned walkers can take on the ultimate challenge of 15 miles over hills, through valleys, ancient flood plains and woods, navigating all three pre-planned routes. Your challenge is to use your map to navigate (with our helpful instructions and Discovery Notes) whilst connecting with the landscape, finding answers to quiz clues, learning about the area’s history and modern-day Chilterns projects as you walk. If you fancy tackling fewer miles, book just one or two routes to walk and navigate your way around five or ten miles of this stunning countryside. Remember to bring a camera to take those important memories of your day out in one of the Chiltern’s most scenic regions. There are three different routes you can navigate (for more detailed information on each route please visit the events website pages). Choose two or all three to build up your 10 or 15 miles:
• Old Father Thames (5.4mi, 8.6km)
• Withies, Trains and Bacon (5.4 mi, 8.6km)
• Holies Chase (4.2 mi, 6.8km)
Your checking-in, start and each route finish point is the Morrell Room in Streatley, just up from the banks of the River Thames. The hall and its facilities are the challenge HQ where your start and finish time for each route are recorded and your quiz answers checked (and all important refreshments and loos are!). So, make sure you pop in before starting your next route to earn that all important certificate of achievement and participants badge at the end of the day. We all look forward to meeting you on the 24th.
