Peper Harow Point to Point

Many of you will have met the lovely Surrey Union hounds at Peper Harow, in this or previous years.

There is a very real worry that if Keir Starmer's ban on trail hunting goes ahead, the hounds – and indeed this point to point – may no longer be able to exist.

We would urge everyone to respond to the trail hunting consultation. The simplest way is via the Countryside Alliance/Future for Hunting e-lobby, which can be found here:

The government has opened its consultation on how to implement a ban on trail hunting. You can use our e-lobby to quickly and easily respond.

After he won yesterday at Peper Harrow Count Simon announced his retirement from racing and headed straight to Gatwick for his easy jet flight to Corfu and was straight on the tequila sunrise.

Plus a 12th win with a Walkover{ he scared off his rivals at Penshurst)
He has retired and goes enjoy his life with his new owner this season Kate Kidney.
It’s been a privilege to train Simon for the last 5 seasons he’s been a real dude in every way.
Thanks Simon for all the joy you have bought to the jockeys who won on you the Gunshot Paddocks Racing Club and for Kate Kidney this season. And finally for the great days he has given me and Lucie.
He’s a legend in our eyes.

Going update, Friday 15 May

The clerk of the course has inspected the course this morning. The going remains good, good to firm in places.

We are watering to maintain.

The Agrivator will commence this evening ahead of racing tomorrow.

Going Update (Thursday 14 May)

We have inspected the course today with the BHA course inspector Paul Townsley.

The going is currently good, good to firm in places.

We have watered the course since Monday, and it's raining now. We have put over 600,000 litres on the course and we will be watering to maintain.

We will also be agrivating the course on Friday afternoon/evening.

We will provide a further going update tomorrow the day before racing.
