An update for everyone who loves Blackfriars Priory.

As we look ahead to 30th May 2026, we would like to share that Gloucester City Council will be stepping away from the day-to-day running of Blackfriars Priory. This means that our Sunday open days, along with venue bookings, will come to an end at the close of May. While this marks the end of an important chapter in the Priory’s story, the deep affection for this remarkable place, shared by visitors, couples and staff alike, remains constant.

At present, the future of Blackfriars Priory beyond May 2026 is unknown. In the months ahead, we will continue to open the Priory on Sundays and are taking bookings up until the end of May. We would be honoured to welcome as many people as possible during this time. Thank you to everyone who has supported, celebrated and cherished Blackfriars Priory over the years. Whatever lies ahead, its history, beauty and the memories made here will always endure.

We are over the moon! 🌙

We are delighted to announce that we are finalists in the coveted for best wedding venue in the South West 🤍

After a rigorous judging process including a mystery shop and an interview with a member of the judging panel, Blackfriars Priory has been shortlisted as a finalist.

This is a huge testament to the work that we do, with scores being made on criteria such as our commitment to sustainability, equality, diversity and inclusion and the extra lengths we go to, to ensure our couples have the most magical experience possible.

Take some 'you' time at our next Mini Yoga Retreat. This season, we will be focussing on Nourishing and Flourishing, led by local yoga icon and clinical psychologist .yogajulia

🧘1 hour 15 minute warming yoga practice with an emphasis on strengthening and heating the body with mindful breathing and relaxation.

Join us this Christmas for our Frolics at the Friars Christmas Comedy Night! 🎄

We've teamed up with local comedy legend, Nik Hill, for a night of mirth, merriment and medieval mischief! Frolics at the Friars is your ticket to a riotous evening of top-notch comedy, festive cheer, and belly laughs echoing the ancient East Range.

On the line up are Dani Jones and Pierre Hollins, with compere sets from Nik.

Bristol based Dani encapsulates the saying all good things come in little packages; making waves on the comedy circuit, Dani has recently secured some dates as tour support for Jason Manford. Don't be fooled by the sweet exterior, it masks a comedy mind that is razor sharp and cutting at times.

A comedy circuit legend, Pierre mixes his amazing musical talent with observational humour reflecting on his life and circumstances; he has been headlining shows up and down the UK and beyond and always delivers an 120% performance.
