Just a reminder that the Crown Players are holding a read through/auditions for our Autumn production of Calendar Girls (the play, not the musical) this Thursday (28th May) at The Kings Theatre Gloucester starting at 7:30pm.

It's a great play, with a lot of parts, large and small, so suitable for all levels of experience. If you've fancied getting into amateur dramatics (whether on or off stage), want to return to acting or whatever reason, this is a fantastic feel good comedy to get you in.

Show dates are 26th-28th of November 2026.

Looking forward to seeing you there.

Calling all lady actors (and some men actors, but mainly ladies!).

The Crown Players are having a final read through, which will double as an audition, for our autumn production of 'Calendar Girls' by Tim Frith. Show dates are 26th-28th November.

The play that inspired the film and musical (just to be clear, we are NOT producing the musical!)

The read through/audition is at The Kings Theatre Gloucester, on Thursday 28th May. Please arrive from 7 pm so the read/through can start promptly at 7:30 pm. Let us know in the comments if you're coming along!

If you are interested in auditioning and can't make it, please DM us and we can arrange an alternative date.

Here's a blast from the past! Phoebe, who played a variety of ensemble roles in our recently completed production of 'Terry Pratchett's Guards! Guards!' adapted by Stephen Briggs in her first role with The Crown Players - Gloucester, at the tender age of 16!

Over 2017 and 2018 we produced all 6 episodes of 'Black Adder Goes Forth'. It was a passion project for many of the cast, some of whom were in bits by the end of the final performance.

Who knows, one day we may return to the world of Edmund and Baldrick...

'Terry Pratchett's Guards! Guards!', performed by The Crown Players - Gloucester, is over.

The actors are tired, but happy.

The set has been taken down and stored for another play.

The The Kings Theatre Gloucester has been cleaned and the lights are off, for now.

Other groups will take to the stage, rehearsals complete, and the magic of the theatre will return.

And so will the Crown Players.

At the time of posting this, it's five o'clock.

And all's well.

From the Stage Manager's point of view!

Between wrangling the scene changes, managing sound and lighting cues with Gareth (our man in the lighting box!) and herding an unruly cast, Nicky, our SM managed to get a few pictures from her command module stage left!

Tonight (18th April) is The Crown Players - Gloucester's last performance of 'Terry Pratchett's Guards! Guards!' (adapted by Stephen Briggs), at The Kings Theatre Gloucester.

Don't miss out on this hilarious production, and support the city of Gloucester's only theatre!

Tickets from https://kingstheatregloucester.co.uk/whats-on/ or on the door.

Doors open 7 pm, curtain up 7:39 pm!
