We are so very happy to announce Geraldine Hudson will be with us in February!
If you take a look at our website you may find early details of the two remaining speakers soon to be officially announced! 😉✨
Geraldine Hudson is an Interdisciplinary Artist, Curator and Folk Witch
As an artist/curator Geraldine's background lies in socially engaged art-therapy and grass
roots activism. Alongside which she spent many years producing experimental music/art
events, before deciding to pursue her own art practice whilst she was living in Berlin and
later Stockholm.
She co-founded and produces the seminar series Conjuring Creativity:
Art & The Esoteric (an artist, practitioner and scholar event) and has more recently
founded a series of workshops under MARE (A nomadic art school) examining the
entanglements of Magic/k, Art & Ecology, in theory and practice.
Within her own art practice she enacts rites, actions and pilgrimages which then feed back
into the exhibited work. Her many layered durational pieces often involve interactive
embodied site based journeying and wild clay meditation workshops, resulting in acts of
collaborative authoring and intentional world building.
By choosing to engage in an art making which is often cyclical, mystical or site specific her
work embodies a lifelong correspondence with genius loci, cosmological temporalities and
magick. With an ongoing enquiry into animistic/magical reconciliation as means of other
than capitalist belonging. Working with materials both permanent and ephemeral, such as
foraged clay, hair, dirt, ash and plant matter.
Geraldine's work is held in private collections and she exhibits variously throughout
Europe, alongside presenting at conferences on the relationship between contemporary
art, ritual and magickal practices.
She holds a B.A (hons) In Ceramics, an M.A in Printmaking and has recently completed
the MFA Fine Art programme at Goldsmiths UOL.
Hierarchies of Magick and the Occulted Body
This talk will present and expand upon some of Geraldine's research into embodied
practice and phenomenology. Positioning the body as magickal site, enabling a
manifestation of symbiotic autonomy when in communion with the other than human.
Hope to see lots of you there, and you have your tickets and b&b’s booked!
