Rediscovering the ancient sounds of a lost world ... Glastonbury Symposium ‘Expand Your Horizons’ speaker highlights 2026 – Greg Moffitt
Greg is a writer and broadcaster who has been published extensively. He has over thirty-five years’ experience in the music industry as both a journalist and keyboard player for controversial Gothic black metal band Cradle of Filth. He is co-author of the book ‘Beyond Time and Space – The Art of Paul Raymond Gregory’ and currently hosts the Legalise Freedom podcast, which explores a wide range of topics, including the nature of reality and consciousness, science and spirituality, astronomy, archaeology and alternative history, myth, magic and metaphysics, transhumanism and technocracy, popular culture ... and the entire future of life on Earth.
In his presentation for the Symposium on Sunday 26 July, Greg investigates ‘The Sound of the Stones – Archaeoacoustics and the Ancients’.
“Archaeoacoustics” is a sub-field of archaeology which studies the relationship between people and sound throughout history, and “psychoacoustics” is the scientific study of the perception of sound by the human auditory system. In this revealing talk, Greg explores the vast significance of sound in human evolution, culture, and our interpretation of the natural world, demonstrating how different the Earth may have sounded to our ancient ancestors, and how the swarming sound world of the 21st century has severed the connection to our innate senses and spirit.
