Still not over GFF26? Neither are we. Relive it all and pull back the curtain to find out what's next 📣

Over 37,000 of you joined us for the GFF26 programme of premieres, special event screenings, youth and community initiatives, and Press & Industry events. Our programme contained 127 titles including 16 World, European and International Premieres, 68 UK Premieres, and 18 Scottish Premieres. Highlights included Gaelic-language documentary Sailm nan Daoine (Psalms of the People) directed by Glasgow-based Jack Archer, and Effi o Blaenau, a Welsh drama directed by BAFTA Cymru-winning Marc Evans. GFF also secured the European premiere of the instant cult classic Nirvana - the Band the Show the Movie, with two sold out shows in the festival’s largest venue.

The Industry Focus programme returned to The Social Hub in Merchant City and welcomed 745 press and industry delegates. Admissions for the Industry Focus conference also increased to 4,155 across the five-day programme, which included panel discussions, live pitches and networking, designed to cover topics critical to the screen sector, whilst also serving as a vital hub for film professionals across the UK.

And GFF will return 24 February - 7 March 2027, with submissions opening in July this year. We can't wait to see you there!

Introducing the Black Filmmakers Community Network (BFCN) 📣

A new quarterly event series dedicated to supporting Black filmmakers across Scotland.

Created following a period of consultation with Black filmmakers working in Scotland, the series has been designed to help the community grow their creative careers while driving meaningful change across the sector.

We’re delighted to announce that the first workshop, Pitch Yourself: A Fundamentals of Pitching Your Film, will take place on Saturday 9 May 2026.

This workshop has been honed over 10 years across industries, and specially developed to help Black communities share their stories without leaning into trauma narratives or stereotypical tropes. You’ll develop your own unique pitching style, alongside film industry-specific tips.

At our Closing Gala, we revealed the winner of our prestigious GFF26 Audience Award, chosen by the most important people at GFF - the audience. The Audience Award is voted for from a selection of 10 handpicked films from first or second-time directors who show the promise of having long and exciting careers ahead of them.

The winner of the GFF26 Audience Award was Mélisa Godet’s A Place For Her, a heartfelt and powerful French drama about a dedicated doctor and her team striving to keep their women’s shelter open and to help women heal from abuse.

Upon winning the award, Godet said:

"It is a great honour and a great joy for me that this film, so dear to my heart, is receiving the Audience Award. When you have the privilege of making a film like this one, you dream that it might touch people's hearts. It seems that is indeed the case here at the Glasgow Film Festival. And on this day, the 8th of March, International Women's Rights Day, this award takes on a very special meaning. So today, I think of all the women around the world who are fighting for their rights, for their safety, for their freedom. And I think of all those, women and men, who support them in this fight, who help them rise again. Thank you so very much. Long live women! Long live cinema! And all those who love them!"
