Think your beard has what it takes?

There's only one way to find out.

Every year, people step up at the Braw Beard & Moustache Championships for the first time.

Some have been growing for years.

Some have competed all over the place.

Some are standing backstage wondering why the hell they signed themselves up for this.

Then they walk out.

The crowd gets behind them.

And for a few minutes, their beard is the main event.

You don't need to be a seasoned competitor.

You don't need to think you've got the best beard in the room.

You just need to enter.

13 categories covering different lengths and styles, plus moustaches, freestyle, fake beards and ginger beards.

You'd be surprised how often we've heard something along those lines over the years.

Maybe you don't have a massive beard.

Maybe you've never entered a beard competition in your life.

Maybe you just fancy coming along for a beer and seeing what the hell it's all about.

You are welcome.

That's one of the favourite things about the Braw Beard & Moustache Championships.

Scroll through these photos and you'll see competitors, spectators, old friends, new friends, some incredible facial hair.

Some people travel to Glasgow determined to win their category.

Some come to catch up with people they only see once or twice a year.

Some come with their partner or mates just to watch the madness unfold.

And some arrive knowing almost nobody.

By the end of the night, that usually changes.

That's exactly how we want it.

When we started the Braw Beard & Moustache Championships, we never wanted it to feel like some overly serious competition where everyone sits around.

Yes, there's a competition.

Yes, people travel a bloody long way to get on that stage.

And yes, when your category gets called, suddenly winning that wooden medallion becomes VERY important.

But look through these photos.

People taking selfies with someone they've just competed against.

Friends who originally met through these events catching up again.

People coming along with absolutely no intention of competing and somehow becoming part of the madness anyway.

A packed room laughing, drinking, shouting and supporting whoever happens to be standing on that stage.

That's the bit we want you to experience.

You don't need to have a beard.
You don't need to compete.
You don't even need to know anyone before you arrive.
Just come along.

Think you need a massive beard to enter a beard competition? You don't.

That's one of the things I want people to realise about the Braw Beard & Moustache Championships.

You don't need a beard down to your waist.

You don't need to have been growing it for ten years.

And you definitely don't need to be a seasoned beard competitor.

We've got categories covering everything from moustaches and shorter beards to huge natural beards, freestyle creations and even fake/creative beards.

So if you've been following the event for years thinking... "I'd love to do that, but my beard isn't good enough."

Come and give it a go.

Some people are there to win. Some want to see how they stack up. Some just want the experience of getting on that stage in front of a room full of people who appreciate the effort they've put into their facial hair.

That's what makes it fun.

This is what I love about the Braw Beard & Moustache Championships.

Look through these photos and there's no single "type" of person who belongs on that stage.

Different ages, styles, personalities & different beards.

Some have been competing for years. Some step onto a competition stage for the first time. Some take the beard VERY seriously. Others... slightly less so.

But when everyone gets together in Glasgow, it just works.

That's what we've tried to build with the BrawBMC.

If you've ever looked at the photos and thought about entering one day, maybe 2027 is the year you actually do it.

And if competing isn't your thing, come along, grab a drink and enjoy the show.

One of the questions I get asked every year is "What's it actually like?"

The honest answer?
It's hard to explain.

Yes, there's a beard competition.

But there's also a piper opening the evening.

People travelling from all over the World.

Competitors stepping onto a stage for the first time.

Wild fake beard creations.

Cheers when winners are announced.

Conversations that carry on long after the trophies have been handed out.

It's competitive.

It's welcoming.

It's a little bit bonkers.

And that's exactly why so many people come back every year.

These are just a few moments from BrawBMC 2026.

We'll do it all again in February 2027.

If you've been thinking about coming along, whether that's stepping onto the stage or simply joining us as a spectator, now's a good time to get your ticket.

These are some of the people who make BrawBMC what it is.

Different ages. Different jobs. Different styles.

Some spend all year sculpting the perfect competition beard.

Others simply decide, "Aye... why not?" and step onto the stage for the very first time.

By the end of the night, none of that really matters.

Everyone's chatting. Everyone's cheering each other on. Everyone's in the same room for the same reason.

That's what I've always wanted BrawBMC to be.

Not just a competition.

A place where people who'd probably never have met otherwise leave with new friends and stories to tell.

Looking at these portraits, I wonder who'll be standing in front of the camera next February.

Maybe it's you.
