And that's exactly what makes the Braw Beard & Moustache Championships so good.

Some prefer their beards long and natural.

Others spend time carefully styling every hair into place.

Some have impressive moustaches, some have huge, thick beards and others have their own distinctive look.

There's no single way a great beard should look.

And that's why we have 13 different competition categories.

You don't need to have the biggest beard in the room.

You don't need to look like anyone else.

And you certainly don't need to be a professional competitor.

You just need to be willing to step up and give it a go.

Every person in these photos started growing their beard somewhere. And at some point, they decided to put themselves forward.

That's one of our favourite things about the Braw Beard & Moustache Championships.

But there's one thing they all have in common.
They're having a good time!

Yes, there are competitions. Yes, there are medals to be won. But the best part of the event isn't necessarily what happens on stage.

It's the friendships made, the laughs shared and the people who come back year after year.

Where else would you see a bearded bagpiper, some magnificent beards and a sea captain carrying a massive fish on the same stage?

Welcome to the Braw Beard & Moustache Championships!

Every year, people travel from all over the UK and beyond to take part in what has become a brilliant evening of competition, entertainment and community.

Some competitors take their facial hair very seriously.

Others are just there to have a laugh.

And some turn up with a fish.

That's what makes this event special. Everyone brings their own personality to the stage and everyone is welcome.

You don't need to be a professional. You don't need to have competed before. You just need to be willing to give it a go.

You don't need a beard to come to this. You don't even need to compete.

The Braw Beard & Moustache Championships might have started as a beard competition, but the competition is only part of the fun.

It's a room full of people from all over the UK and beyond, catching up with old mates, meeting people they've spoken to online for years, having a few drinks, watching some incredible (and occasionally ridiculous 😂) facial hair take to the stage and generally having a bloody good time.

That's what people love about this event.

You can enter one of the 13 categories and have a crack at taking home a medal.

Or you can grab a spectator ticket, bring your mates and just enjoy the madness.

Think you need a massive beard to enter a beard competition? You don't.

One of the things we love most about the Braw Beard & Moustache Championships is the variety of people who get up on that stage.

Huge natural beards.
Shorter beards.
Styled moustaches.
Freestyle and handmade creations.

Different ages, styles & personalities.

You don't need to have spent the last 10 years growing a beard down to your knees to get involved.

We've got 13 different categories, including categories for moustaches, natural beards of different lengths and handmade beards - so there's a hell of a lot more to it than simply having the biggest beard in the room.

And while everyone wants to walk away with a medal, that's only part of it.

It's about getting involved, meeting people, having a laugh and being part of something you probably won't experience anywhere else.

If you've thinking “I'd love to do that, but my beard isn't good enough.”

Get that thought out of your head.

You never quite know who’s going to walk through the door…

A sea captain with a massive fish.

A gentleman in a fur coat and top hat.

Some seriously impressive moustaches.

Some seriously impressive beards.

And occasionally someone carrying a drinking horn.

That's part of what we love about the Braw Beard & Moustache Championships.

People don't just turn up.

They SHOW UP.

Every year we get competitors travelling from all over, bringing incredible facial hair, outfits, personalities and a fair bit of madness with them.

And that's what makes this event what it is.

You can compete.

You can dress up.

You can come exactly as you are.

Or you can grab a drink, stand in the crowd and watch the whole thing unfold.

This isn't your average Saturday evening in Glasgow.

One minute you're watching someone walk onto a stage with a ridiculously impressive beard.

The next there's an incredible fake beard creation.

Someone's turned up looking like a musketeer.

There's a bloke in a purple bowler hat having a pint.

And somehow all of this is completely normal.

Welcome to the Braw Beard & Moustache Championships.

Yes, there's a serious competition at the heart of it.

13 categories, some incredible facial hair and competitors travelling to Glasgow to take their shot at a Braw championship.

But you absolutely do not need to compete to come along.

For most people, it's a night out.

Grab a drink. Watch the competition. Meet people. Have a laugh.

See some genuinely unbelievable beards and moustaches.

And experience one of those events that's pretty difficult to explain to someone who hasn't been there.
