🏳️‍🌈Summer of Pride Week 2!🏳️‍⚧️

❤️ On Tuesday, we were taking a tour back in time with ReportOUT’s Drew Dalton as he told the hidden truths of the Men in the Pink Triangle and treatment of the LGBTQ+ community throughout history and times of oppression.

🧡 Keeping up the theme of history, we were back down to South Tyneside at the The Customs House to for the screening of Rebel D***s; the story of the post-punk 1980’s era in London, where a community of women came together with art, politics, s*x and transforming the nightlife which turned to them wanting to change the world and become activists, artists, performers celebrating the life of a le***an!

💛 Jarrow got more than a splash of colour as ReportOUT and Pride in Hebburn got together for a Pride banner workshop, where people designed some amazing banners with important messages that feel dear to our community!

💚The Custom House did a time warp back to the 80’s, for an all night drag spectacular with Danny Diamond and the 80s Diva troop who brought all the songs that we celebrate as LGBTQ+ anthems!

💙 On Saturday, the Clubhouse Gaming gamers were preparing for a 12 hour marathon from 10am raising money for OUT North East’s work supporting the LGBTQ+ community. A full day of board games, RPG’s, mini-painting and D’n’D all in aid to help keep Pride free!

💜 At the same time, Pride in Hebburn was marching with pride; outfits, banners, and smiles. The local community came together in solidarity despite recent events to showcase that together we are stronger.

🩵 We’re just half way through, we aren’t going anywhere! Last night we were screening Screaming Queens, an event in LGBTQI+ rights before Stonewall. Tonight we are going through a global tour of LGBTQI+ rights in the modern world.

🤍 We’re collaborating with Dollhaus, Vane gallery and Orbis Community as they deliver a crafternoon and social, expressing true pride in community on Thursday. Whether you want to celebrate or protest, the dolls will show you how to do it in style!

🩷 We’ve got Pride Takeovers happening across the region. Working in partnership with some of the region's biggest businesses like the Metrocentre and Gateshead College, we can’t wait to see everyone come together!

🌈 If you’re feeling competitive or into sports then why not play for your chance to be named the ‘Pride Bowling Champion’ of 2026, as we join the Pelaw Lawn Bowling Club for a day of good old fashioned bowling with a twist of pride. Afterwards for those refusing to be beat, we have our increasingly important Pride March and Rally and Pride 5K Colour Fun Running partnership with Chopwell Woodland Park - Forestry England happening alongside even more events for the final week of Summer of Pride!

🚨Before Stonewall…

✊There was the Compton’s Cafeteria riot! In August 1966, within the Tenderloin district of San Francisco, a diner frequented by the q***r community turned into a riot in response to the violent and consistent harassment of trans people, primarily trans women, and drag queens.

Tonight, we had an amazing turnout at the ONE Centre. We were joined by ReportOUT’s Out and Safe North East group, Dollhaus and the local community. A great display of coming together.

Coming together, the Compton’s Cafeteria rioters including transgender women, drag queens, the q***r youth and other LGBTQIA+ people fought back and marked their moment in history!

We’ve dove into the past, and tomorrow we are going to be looking at current LGBTQI+ global rights! Join us tomorrow as Drew Dalton shares years of research and knowledge about current issues our community is facing!

🏳️‍🌈 What is Happening to LGBTQI+ Rights Across the Globe? 🌍

Across the world, LGBTQI+ communities are navigating a complex reality defined by both historic progress and growing resistance. From the legacy of the Stonewall Riots to today’s global movements, the fight for equality has never been more visible or more contested.

Join us for a powerful talk exploring the current state of LGBTQIA+ rights across the globe. We will be unpacking:
The tensions between legal advancements and lived realities.
The rise of co-ordinated backlash, and why rights are expanding in some regions while being rolled back in others.
The urgent need for solidarity across borders.

Drawing on real-world examples, global trends, and frontline experiences, this session will challenge assumptions and spark critical thinking about the future of global equality.

🎟️ How to join us: You can secure your tickets to attend via Eventbrite, or you can tune in live! We will be streaming the entire talk directly on our page and the Pride Radio app.

The ONE Centre has always been a safe space for LGBTQI+ people, offering support and events for the local community. Here at OUT North East, we are especially proud to be working in partnership with Connected Voice and Northumbria Police to provide a safe space for people wanting a safe space to report a hate crime.

Working together, in the first of this collaborative effort, we hope that people who once felt silent, that their issues would be dismissed, will come forward.

Let your voice be heard. Don’t stay silent. We are here for you!

Thanks to everyone at Clubhouse Gaming for organising a mammoth 12-hour Gameathon to raise funds to support OUT North East.

A fantastic event of D&D, Warcraft and more.

We can't wait to start working with Clubhouse Gaming on future projects and have gaming events at the ONE Centre.

What a fantastic day as people from all communities came together to celebrate Pride in Hebburn.

From the Pride March to live music, community stalls, activities and conversations, the day was filled with positivity, laughter and connection. People from all backgrounds came together to celebrate who they are and to show pride in one another.

At a time when some voices in politics seem determined to divide communities, today was a powerful reminder that people are better than that. We saw kindness, acceptance and solidarity everywhere we looked.

Thank you to everyone who attended, performed, volunteered and helped make the day such a success. Events like this show the very best of all communities and prove that when we come together, we are stronger.

Happy Pride, Hebburn.
