Tablehurst Young Farmers is a not-for-profit nourishing, wholesome and fun weekly club for children aged 0 - 16. We are a team of experienced people with a passion for taking children outdoors, to experience nature, learn more about animals, and get muddy on Tablehurst Organic and Biodynamic Farm. We care for the animals on the farm, grow vegetables, harvest, w**d, stack wood, build structures, help with seasonal events on the farm and much more! Tablehurst Farm Kids: 5 -11 year olds

Autumn time is settling in good and proper on our lovely plot! 🍂

There’s always something to do but in this harvest season we ensure pockets of rest all round too, with thanks to Sarah for supplying us with hammocks this year for just that! 🍃

It’s such a beautiful time of the year 🍃 the plot is starting to settle and is still full of colour, it’s like it is dancing between the seasons! 🌼✨

We are so glad for the rain and cooler days, our animals too. It’s w**ding and harvest time across all our sessions, as well as our usual biodynamic learning and land tending, plus making time for planning the autumn/winter builds and mending. There’s always something to do around here! 🍂👩‍🌾

Over the summer we have been trialling a new Wednesday Farm Kids with our very own Tara Jane and I’m pleased to write that we now have spaces open! The day runs 9.30-1.30pm and is for children aged 5+ ✨

This week we celebrated four teens from our Let’s Grow group who are moving onto greater things (like college!). They have been with us almost a decade and if that doesn’t bring us great hope in what we are doing, well then what will?

We will miss these lovely people and feel so honoured they have chosen to spend their Thursdays with us over the years. All the best great and wonderful teenagers! 🌻👨‍🌾

Good news! We have space on our Saturday sessions and they begin again this weekend! 🌻🍃✨

These sessions are held by our dear Karen and Terrie who over the years have poured their hearts into this space and their group of committed Young Farmers.

Saturdays run for four weeks and pause for a month before returning again. These sessions suit families who can’t be with us during the week, and those who don’t want to commit to being with us full time.

🐷 A polite notice!

If passing by and you visit our three pigs on the plot it is very important that you do not touch or unplug the electric fencing. It is always switched on when we aren’t in session and it is very powerful. The fence is there to keep the pigs safe and secure, and if and when the wires are disconnected we run a serious risk of losing our animals and that would be heartbreaking for all involved in their care.

Please, with kindness, leave the fencing alone. Thank you! 🐖🌸✨

We have had a busy start back with hands on farm jobs, caring for our animals, helping our sunflowers to stand, taking the sheep for a grazing walk, making blackberry tie dye (always a favourite! 💜), den play and tree climbing!

Those who weren’t quite ready to present their shelter projects before the break did so this week too, this is something the children have been working on with Tara Jane and then showcasing to their families. It has been wonderful to see them come together.

We are excited to be back on the farm this week and to welcome the children into the autumn term 🍃

It’s a busy time of the year for us as we harvest and learn to store, move and tend to our animals as we prepare for the colder months, rebuild planters that have held so much over the summer, fix fencing and help on the wider farm. As well as following our gentle curriculum with seasonal crafts and games. It’s a lovely time of the year 🌼

A huge thank you to all the families who joined us for our work day today! 👩‍🌾 Despite the heat we accomplished a lot and ticked off many things on our to do list including taking down a fence and making new handles for our coop doors. There’s always something to do around here!

We take so much away from these days, to watch as the children to share this space with their families feels important and something very special indeed. And we are always grateful for extra hands! 🪚🔨✨
