August 2019 - Arch2Arc
87 mile run, Cross the English Channel Swim - non wetsuit
181 mile cycle all within 64 hours to become the New World Record Holder My name is Christopher Leek, I’m 28 years old and I live in Kent with my girlfriend Charlotte and our Cocker Spaniel “Parker”. I am choosing to embark on the challenge of a lifetime by swimming th

e English Channel Solo in July 2016. The funny thing about it is I am scared of fish, seaweed freaks me out and thinking about the amount of Jellyfish in the English Channel makes my stomach turn. Well since I can remember swimming has been a passion, but at the age of 15, I broke my arm and post recovery, I could not get my strength back. It was only last year when I completed the Iron Man Challenge in Bolton that I found my excitement for this sport again. Now you know a bit about me your probably wondering which Charity and more importantly who I am doing this for? Well I’m doing it for the person who taught me courage, confidence and inspired me to be the person I am today – My Dad. Diagnosed with Parkinson’s over 11 years ago, it’s made me determined to raise awareness of this awful disease, furthermore it has made me passionate to bring together the family and friends that are left caring for loved ones to motivate them to fight on. The money raised will go towards the research required to help find a cure. The swim starts at or near Shakespeare’s Cliff, Dover, in the early hours one morning and should finish at or near Cap Gris Nez (between Boulogne and Calais) some 14-16 hours later. I will have GPS tracking so that you can monitor my progress on the day as we attempt to dodge the ferries, tankers and empty beer bottles in what is the busiest shipping lane in the world. We are doing this following the guidance and rules of the Channel Swimming and Pilot Federation you can find out more from their site at http://cspf.co.uk/
I urge you to please spread the word by sharing my blog. I have set myself a stretching £15K target to raise for this terrible disease. I hope you enjoy keeping up to date with my blog, and please if you ever feel like joining me in the pool, lake or sea let me know, fish don’t hold great conversations!

Today is International Mens Day and for many it is just another day. You know, like "International LetJustMakeUpADay" Day"

But today I choose to honour a few of the men in my life that have inspired me, supported me and quite possibly even saved me. (there are many more wonderful individuals that are not in the pictures, but you are in my heart. 💙)

From friendship to family, from father to sons. I am grateful for those that have helped me realise that being a man is more than physical strength and the ability to make money.

To be able to show vulnerability and compassion. Learning to respect myself and not be afraid to speak my truth. Never to look down on another or equally, feel that I am beneath anyone. And to always have a support network to help steady the ship when the storms come.

I am thankful 🤜🤛

Thank you 🙏

2 years, wow where has the time gone. Days like this I truly thank my lucky stars. To have an amazing family, friends, and incredible wife, to work colleagues, training buddies, and mentors. To each and everyone of you who helped me get across that line in Paris in any way shape or form. To Lewy body Dementia, Parkinson’s and Orpington Saxon Center. We Dreamed

Parkinson’s devastates lives and there’s no cure. Yet....

I am proud to announce that the podcast and Budweiser Brewing Group is supporting Parkinson's UK Time for Can fundraising campaign to raise awareness of the fastest growing neurological condition in the world.

With more than 40 potential symptoms, Parkinson’s means people can’t do everyday things like walk, talk, eat or sleep.

Despite huge breakthroughs in the last 50 years, there is still no cure and current treatments are not good enough.

People with Parkinson’s have had enough of can’t, it’s .

By funding the right research into the most promising treatments, they get closer to a cure every day.

The Time for Can campaign is backed up by a hard-hitting new TV advert which takes you on a fast-paced journey through the harsh reality of Parkinson’s, showing what the condition stops people from being able to do, before switching to show the determination of the community and what can be achieved by working together towards the ultimate goal of a cure.

Having seen and lived with a suffer of this terrible disease, due to no fault of their own, it’s time for Change.

Our Story

My Story It’s now or never. The date has been set. In August 2019, I will be attempting to complete the ultimate challenge: The ARCH TO ARC. 1. RUN 87 miles from Marble Arch, London to Dover, then... 2. SWIM across the English Channel and lastly... 3. CYCLE 181 miles from Calais to the Arc de Triomphe, Paris. THE TARGET? To complete this within 64 hours, and become the World Record Holder. In 2016, I successfully swam the English Channel for Parkinson’s UK. This terrible disease is a challenge my dad has to face every day. Why a new challenge now? Over the last 3 to 4 years my dad has had to take on an even bigger test in life, Lewy body dementia. For the man who taught me courage, confidence and inspired me to believe in myself to swim the English Channel, this one’s not only for you dad, but for my Mum and my two sisters, Emma and Katy, who care for you every day. Spread the word, share my page and come and join me on a training session or 2 (available to organise through the Strava app).
