Ferryside Social and Welfare Association (village hall) held an AGM and Extraordinary meeting last night, to deliver finances and discuss the village hall's future. It was decided by a vote, to go ahead with selling the venue. This heartbreaking decision has not been taken lightly, but with 3 bookings in a year (2 toddler's parties and Paul the Cabins Christmas concert) at £20 and hour, and astronomical running costs including insurance of £1700 a year alone- there seems to be very little choice. The vote was 13 for selling, 5 against- turn out showing the interest in this.

All/any proceeds from a sale (who would want to buy it?!) will be split between charities in Ferryside, and overseen by The Charity Commision, legal advice and guidance from CCC. Updates will be posted on social media. Next meeting in this process is January 15th 26, 7pm at the hall.

In the meantime, the hall is available for any events, including another Christmas concert by Paul The Cabin and friends- which has literally kept the hall going for the last few years anyway.
Grateful to a local businessman who has offered to pay hefty costs when our funds run out until sale, and the Rugby club for their offer of helping with heaters for any events, to save oil costs.
A sad sign of the times x
