📝 A statement from the Office of the Prime Minister of Devon:
"We want to address the delay in the rollout of the Jeremy Moore Memorial Hat Tournament for 2026.
Quite simply, this should have happened sooner. People were given a timetable, and we have not met it. For that, We take full responsibility.
When we ask the public to place their trust in us — especially on events that beginners, intermediate and experienced players rely on — that trust must be honoured with delivery. We have fallen short of that standard, and we understand the frustration this delay has caused.
We will not offer excuses. The problems we encountered in implementation and launching were serious enough that proceeding on the original timetable would have risked disruption to the very people this event is designed to entertain. The responsible decision was to delay the launch until it can be delivered properly, securely and reliably.
Today, I can confirm a revised timetable.
The final phase will conclude by the end of May. Ticket sales will begin in June, with the full event completed on the thirteenth of June this year.
Our priority is not making promises for headlines. It is delivering an event that works —every time — for the Devonian people.
We will get this done. We will do it properly. And we will regain the confidence that this delay has understandably affected."
